I've had a larger ASUS Transformer of the same line years ago, yeah the 2GB models even then would've popped up "Hey close some things to avoid being interrupted/crashes" Using it nowadays will make that message appear more often, 4GB is definitely a necessity to be useable. I still use it from time to time for specific things. I've thought of replacing W8.1 for Linux, but seems like it uses a 64Bit OS with a 32Bit BIOS, somehow, so I just gave up on it.

@@Pasi123 I've decided to actually give that a shot. The UEFI was unable to recognize either the SD Card or the USB that I tried to boot from. Disabled Secure Boot, and tried the USB on another Laptop and it worked, but not on the tablet. I was using a 32bit version of LMDE just to make sure it will read the USB. Maybe I have to use the Micro USB port with an OTG Adapter?

I was trying to install Linux on the same model and ran into the exact same issue. The answer is MX Linux (KDE Spin - 32bit). It has a 32 bit UEFI BIOS, but is also available as 64bit OS. Runs perfect, even got the touchscreen to work perfectly and calibrated. One thing to lookout for is orientation. It is the wrong way up. Though on KDE it is a one time issue (go to settings -> Display -> Switch to Landscape).

i just got myself a Dell business class tablet. It was well over 1k when it launched in 2017 but i picked it up for about 260€ and it has a i5 7300U aswell as 8GB of RAM and a full sized m.2 NVMe enabled slot for SSDs. It even can take a second SSD inside the unpopulated mPCIe slot where usually the WAN module would sit in another configuration of this model. The wifi module also sits in a mPCIe slot, can be upgraded but isn´t needed though. Supports bluetooth 4.0 and wifi 5ghz, enough for me. The type cover has a white backlight and it features a full size USB 3.0 aswell as two Type C ports with displayport and that´s also used for charging (needs 20V PD though). At last it also includes many handy enterprise features aswell as legacy CSM module for BIOS emulation. So technically, it can run windows Xp even but i already had issues getting drivers to work in windows 7 as the 7th gen Core i no longer supports windows 7. Anyways, i got windows 11, ubuntu and android-x86 up and running on a 512gb SSD. The OS can be selected through the boot menu, which is accessible with F12 or the volume buttons. Best tablet i ever owned.

A lot of people only need a computer for one reason: file transfer, dragging them to the desktop, being able to manage documents easily, etc... But the power of their phone is enough for what they need to do. In this case a such tablet is a perfect fit, as long as you install a 64 bits OS on it of course, I don't know why but sometimes people are stupid enough to use half the CPU and get unusable performance + limiting compatibility! When reinstalling Windows be sure to install every driver! Psivewri doesn't seem to be good at finding them

I had a very similar netbook from Asus I bought in 2017 (I didn't have much money at the time). It had 4 GB of RAM, but only 32 GB of storage, most of which was taken up by Windows 10. I wound up installing a low spec Linux distro, which ran much better.
@MichaelFlatman2 жыл бұрын
I had one of these, a T100TAF (cheaper red version with 1 speaker, z3735f cpu). I loved it, unfortunately broke the screen and replacements weren't great. (had phantom touches etc) You could get a variant with 4gb of ram, and a 500gb spinning hard drive (in a 10in laptop!) which would reside in the keyboard dock. This required a 9v 2a charger to ensure enough power to charge and use the device at the same time... The 30whr battery and low powered CPU made it have a frankly insane battery if required, and being able to run off *any* power bank was a cool bonus. Charge times were slow though, with my model charging thru micro usb 5v2a. I miss mine dearly, i'm leaning toward geting another one cheap but feel like it probably wouldn't get used to it's fullest potential. These early baytrail tablets running windows 8 are what gave the Intel Atom a new lease of life. When these chips were launched they were as powerful as an original iPad Air, for roughly the same power use too.. Impressive stuff!

Urgh, these bastards were being flogged on school students around 2015. Mine only lasted a few years before the connection between the tablet and keyboard SEVERELY weakened, preventing the keyboard/touchpad from staying connected. And because my screen had also been damaged, also affecting the touchscreen, this basically left me with no input into the device at all. Oh yeah, and the trackpad was coming out way more than my current gaming computer when its battery had swollen up into a mildly spicy pillow. Heck, I could've ripped it out at that point. I finally got it replaced with a Lenovo laptop... that had a garbage battery life for going to school and later began to suffer from frequent BSODs. It was so bad I broke out my super old but super stable (Acer) eMachines eME728 and was using that until I finally got my last school computer (now a uni computer) - an Acer Spin 5... The Acer Spin 5 was LEAGUES better as a touchscreen laptop and you can still get that laptop/tablet hybrid experience by... folding the keyboard behind the screen. Meaning that it's way less likely to die later down the line in the same way my ASUS T100TA did.

i actually had one of those back in 2013 during my college years, however mine has 4GB of Ram instead of 2GB of Ram. honestly it was a pretty good notebooks alternative, as i used mine with OneNote and a capacitive stylus in classes. i have to say however that one of the biggest drawbacks that this hybrid computer had back then was that even though the Atom Cherry Trail CPU was a 64Bit CPU, Asus cheapened out and used the 32Bit version of Windows 8 on it... that was the biggest drawback of this machine back then and still is to this day since installing a completely different OS on this hybrid laptop is an annoying process unlike any other ordinary laptop - many people have installed cloudready OS and Android X86 on this specific laptop to enhance its software capabilities, some even installed Ubuntu on it. i think in today's world the best OS you can install on one of these machines is probably Cloudready OS with Android app support - that would likely bring the most functionality out of this machine as a tablet while still retaining its usability as a laptop as well. i still have it to this day and it did receive the free windows 10 update a couple of years ago and it still runs pretty well, but i barely touch it anymore since using it nowadays feels more like a chore than actually practical - the 10.1 inch screen isn't really the issue, the issue is the HUGE bezels and the insane weight this tablet has with the keyboard attached... using it as a tablet to watch movies on the go feels like a chore if you don't also use the keyboard as a stand, but then you are carrying a hefty nearly 1kg device with a small 10.1 inch screen just to watch movies on the go when a standard iPad has a 10.2" high resolution display and weighs less than half WITH a magic keyboard... i do like how well it is able to run old games however - Joint Operations Typhoon Rising runs on this computer with breeze...

What cash converters did you go to in Adelaide. I know all of them and they are all great except for the one in Glenelg SA. Cash converters for life. I recommend Elizabeth Cash converters and Salisbury cash converters they have great cheap devices.
