This episode is intended to be a sister episode to the S6 episode. They are meant to be watched together and show two sides of the same period of time...
This side of the story is centered around the purchase of my 1984 GTI and most of the parts I will need to vr6 swap it... This has been a bucket list build of mine for a while and I am so excited to finally get started.

Some mk1 trivia:vw South Africa did make a mk1 R line. It was a face-lifted mk1 golf. They make the citi golf till 2009. Jamie Orr imported one to the U.S with a 3.6 swap.

Being a home owner is really suiting you well, my addicted friend. Hahaha. Can’t wait for S6 episodes. Please get rid of the late westy front on the GTI. I personally like the early westy, but rounds is always a good choice. Nice score!

Have you ever thrown a hammer? Go outside and try it. When you do, that will give an idea of the handling of a VR6 MK1.🤔 Step 1, sell all the VR6 stuff. Step 2, Go buy a running MK3 2.0L (if you can find one, lol) Step 3 , Swap in the 2.0L 😁 Take it from someone who's first MK1 was a '78 (only slightly used at the time) Great video and good luck with your build.

Ahhh this is so sick and relatable. Bought an 86 Toyota Pickup off Craigslist in December. Fast forward 5 months, I buy an m50 w/s52 block swapped e30 and every time I go on Craigslist or marketplace to buy something normal for the house I end up browsing…. Dreaming… love those old gtis. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Love it! Just got a 91 GTI on the road that I purchased last year. Blew the trans on the way back from NJ to Paducah KY, the last 700 miles was in 4th gear at redline. I get back and start sourcing parts for the 02J 1.8T conversion, and bought another 91 😂 Waiting on the 02J and cable shift to arrive while the parts pile up, now I’m doing 2 of these cars this year haaha

Grade A production, really really nice. The only thing stopping me from having more project cars is, yearly insurance and tax. On average, it's 1500€ per year per car. So having 5 registered cars is already a pricey undergoing.

No deja vu haha. This video was a sister episode to the S6 one! The timeline for both cars happens at the same time, so I split the videos so they tell two sides of the same story. This one has more gti details than S6. Both together have the complete story haha.
