That module in the Volvo world is called the CEM and it stores the configuration for the car on it including VIN, it also handles the immobiliser. You may be able to get some power to the car by replacing it, however it'll likely require coding to get it fully functional.

You should avoid rushing to power a flooded car. First you should wash it to remove the most salt as possible. Then clean all the electronics and connectors. Replace the fluids, and only then apply power to the car.

Hey Sam, I'm not sure where you are at in the process, but my DB9 had an electrical kill switch in the trunk and a reset behind the passenger seat under the squab. (Its very possible the owner rolled the windows down and hit the disconect in the trunk before the storm to prevent damage) You can also most likely get to the trunk through the back seat area as there should be a pull release that can be accessed through there. Good luck! Can't wait to see the progress.

Anything with power will suffer from electrolysis, when exposed to salt water. PCBs wil dissolve copper traces and anything zinc will disappear. Some things I found thru experience... Use phosphorus acid mixed with water to clean fuzzy residues, it will dissolve base metals. Then blow with air. Imediately wash again with soapy water strong mix, blow off, then with distilled water as final rinse. Dry with hair dryer then use dielectric spray and grease in connectors. Use a brass brush to polish , plastic toothbrush to scrub. Find the main power buss in the electric system and pay a bit more attention to those circuits, you may have to open connectors and de-pin to clean or replace. Time consuming but doable. Best of luck 🎉

That fuse panel box needs to be programmed to the car. I went through this about ten years ago on a DB9. Got it off Copart and was flooded the same as yours. I purchased a used fuse panel box thinking the same as u but it didn’t work. Turns out the box is coded to the car. I took the car to my local Aston dealer it took them two months to get a new box and at the end they couldn’t program it completely as they needed the old box to download the software and uploaded it into the new one. Wish u luck but that fuse panel box is a nightmare.

Look at the Aston Martin V12 I just drove up in. Honey Bunny: Sam, that car sounds like it's running on 10 cylinders. Sam: Hey, that's way more than half. And, I bought this car for pennies on the dollar. Honey Bunny: Sure, just like when you were in Vegas? I don't think so, let's hear the entire story. Sam: Yes, I only paid $20K for a $286K car! Honey Bunny: OK, I said THE ENIRE STORY. Sam: OK, I might gamble, but I don't lie. I only had to put in another $300K to get it to this point!! Honey Bunny: Sam, WE'RE FINISHED!! the plastic box you removed is not just a fuse box. its what you call a CEM module. its a common failure item on Volvos with heater core failing and dumping into it and another failure from the heat in hot climates.( heat failure causes the module to randomly loose communication and put the car in limp mode) these modules are also uniquely programmed to the vehicle and can be done only by the dealer. also you cannot get a used module to program through the dealer it must be a brand new module. and they cost around 550$ new. there are third party services that can read the immobiler data and other vehicle data from old module and then write them to a used module but your old module doesn't looks like the information can be retrieved from them. it looks like you need a new module and has to be programmed by the dealer. some simple research across forums would have told you this but i guess it adds for a good story to buy a used module and showcase viewers how it wont work.

@@samrodian919 not really it would cost nearly 350$ or less for a new CEM module. volvo charged me nearly 200$ to program it. i am guessing aston martin would charge him more. but pretty sure for under 1000$ this can be resolved. the CEM module controls all the central electronics and is gateway to all the other modules it is very vital. for any other older volvo this might be as you say "throw a wrench in the works" but this is a very desirable aston martin dbs so its actually considered a cheap repair.

@@Samcrac i had the same CEM module fail on my volvo c30 and s40. i live in the middleast we have have some crazy heat here in the summers. the module would just randomly freak out while driving and put the car in limp mode. there are many third party services on ebay and forums who can take the important data from the old module and program it a used good module. but this may not work for you as your module looks toast but could be still possible as the information they need is in a single chip. i ended up getting a brand new cem for nearly 500 or 600$ and took the car to volvo to have it programmed. i had to pay 200$ for volvo to reprogram it and its been fine since then. the dealer will not be able to overwrite and module that has already been written to so if you are going the dealer route it must be a brand new fresh module. good luck sam excited to see you get this one back on the road
