Veloces are expensive but the cars prepared to the highest standard. That car would have been sold and possibly re bought by them. I personally bought my Alfa from them 6 years ago and it’s been serviced by them ever since. They are better than any official Alfa dealer. There is also another Alfa in the family that they have looked after as well. You pay for what you get and they have my full trust - never an issue with their work.

I’ve had 3 Giulietta Cloverleafs (Manual) and one Giulietta QV (TCT). The buckets seats looks great but they really don’t hug you at all and feel very flat when you are in them! Car also sounds VERY ticky and just sound like a diesel if you closed your eyes on idle. Had stock engine and gearbox, and I hated the gearbox. With it only being a 1.75 it really feels like it’s constantly being worked hard, which you can feel and hear, doesn’t feel like it cruises around with ease, you can just hear the engine really being used. Wish they just made a 2.0 like the golf gti which is ALOT smoother and effortless, yet still sporty, less ‘ticky’ on idle and sounds better. Also a HUGE point is the clutches and TCT box in general is real weak point in the car. Whether mapped or not. But mapping will certainly head you faster on the road to the what I’ve commonly seen circa £4,000 bill to replace clutches🫣.

I have heard horror stories about Alfa Romeos for years and avoided them for that reason. My wife fell in love with an Alfa Romeo Stelvio after seeing one at a dealership in Chicago which is over a hundred miles from where we live. In the United States, Alfa Romeo is definitely a niche player and dealerships are few and far between she wanted one but she wasn't willing to drive a 200 Mi round trip for service. When a local dealership took on the Alfa Romeo franchise we bought a Stelvio. Over 4 years and 65,000 MI, it has been almost trouble-free. The only issue with getting service is the dealership only has two Alfa Romeo certified technicians so sometimes it takes quite a while to get an appointment. I would buy one again but indications are that Alfa Romeo won't be in the US market for much longer.

Alfa Romeo made a profit last year and a large SUV is planned for the US. The US is the second largest market for Alfa, after only Italy. They're not leaving anytime soon, fingers crossed

I have a 2010 159 Ti with the 1750 Tbi engine, had it two years now and it's been great, the guy is kind of right it's used in the 4C but that has an alloy block so is about 40kg lighter, mine has been re-mapped to 240bhp so goes well, bought mine private sale and the guy had it advertised for 10 months, the 159 Tbi commands a premium as they are pretty scarce so really it needs an enthusiast to buy it (and pay the enthusiastic price lol), no plans on selling though as i love it.

I loved my Giulietta. I had the 1.6 Diesel version which was awesome on the fuel. Over 60 mpg on a run and that was at motorway plus speeds. I would still have it now if it hadn’t been for the common fault with the air con. I had hot coming from one side and cold from the other. Quoted over 2k at an Alfa specialist to replace a £4 part s you couldn’t get to it without stripping out the dash. They said they would have even had to take the front doors off 🙈. 2 day job apparently. I was quoted even more at the main dealer. They have dodgy rear wash wipe motors too. Had to have mine repaired twice because it wouldn’t stop when you switched it on and when you did manage to get it to stop it didn’t stop at its start/rest position. Still loved that car though.

Veloces of London are a well known and long established Alfa specialist. Top prices for their stock, but you pay for what you get. I tried to buy one of these 1750TBI Giuliettas from a dealer in Bristol. All went well until I blasted down the A37 towards Yeovil. I revved hard and lifted off, the road behind disappeared from my rear view. Pooff!!! A cloud of smoke, a veritable smokescreen, which I put down to a failed turbo seal or even a master cylinder/booster issue. Took it back, dealer said he was unaware of the issue. Walked.

Veloces of London seems to have a name for themselves and a good reputation. I bought a car from an auction knowing very little about it apart from the usual info from a reg check and that it was being sold after an insurance claim (an Alfa Romeo 159 TBI). Once it came off the truck outside my house I noticed the voloces of London plate and was reassured I’d bought something decent. Surely enough I looked in the glove box and there was loads of service history, repair bills and maintenance costs. (It just had a new clutch 11 months before hand). My point is for anyone looking for an Alfa, if it’s been through veloces of London you’re probably getting something that’s been cared for. The dealership obviously buys good quality stock and those people who buy these cars clearly know to look after them more times than not. This giulietta seems like another case of a well looked after Alfa, and a really good spec too 👍

Just a bit about Veloces of London: i brought them a VERY high mileage Giulietta with a slipping TCT clutch and they quoted me £4200 lol, they are dealer level prices but honestly their work speaks for themselves. I obviously didnt spend more than the cars worth on a gearbox and did it myself but you get the picture.

I just had to pause the video to check out the car on Autotrader. If I had the funds, I'd have bought it in a heartbeat. As James said, always buy an Alfa from a knowledgeable enthusiast who does all the preventative maintenance. I had a 2010 159 ti sportwagon for nearly 5 years with the 2.0 diesel which was a great car for those longer journeys. It would bimble along at 2000rpm doing an indicated 73 mph. Pretty reliable as well.

I just bought a 2019 Giulia Veloce in dark blue! Obviously I am getting it remapped at Celtic Tuning in Newquay. I spoke to Paul at Veloces of London as I recently wanted a red Giulia with full carbon, but finance would not do it! A month later I try again for a newer, more expensive Giulia, with same company declining me, but broker found another company at a cheaper APR that said ok! Insurance is crazy money if a standard car, but a lot cheaper if modified! This is for someone with a perfect record, too! I normally have Camaro V8's, but had two pieces of bad luck getting a newer model, so I bought a Mondeo Estate Hybrid for something to trade-in in the future, but it was a truly awful car, and was loosing big money, whereas Camaro's are going up in value!!! As I want something that stand's out, and has decent power, I forgot all about Alfa Romeo, but seen one for sale, and wanted it!!! It is a lovely car, with a lovely interior, and does go when you want it too, unlike the Ford which I bought blind without a test-drive!
