I had an '02. So fun to drive but nothing but problems. A fuel pumps 2 02 sensors, 2 crank position sensors, sunroof track broke, fog lights stopped working, fog lights stopped working, driving side power window stopped working, burning coolant and that whole intake manifold/butterfly nut s**t show.

That's a real bummer, both of my Spec Vs have been unbelievably reliable, except for the electronic pedal issues I caused myself on my 02, I guess when mass producing vehicles there will always be bad eggs.

Thats a great find its really clean.I have a tech question for you and anyone reading.I have a 88 pathfinder VG30i and id like to know if any parts from a mercury villager 3.0 are compatible I know Ford bought them from Nissan and made them non interference and put a chain timing set in there too.the parts are very cheap comparatively. Thanks all i cant find a forum or anything about this.

??I'm a honda nerd but just picked up a 2002 nismo spec v ser guy I bought it from said it wasn't a six speed but shifter shifter says it is and not willing to try and find 6th with chances of finding reverse instead

You could figure it out just sitting still idling, letting out the clutch a bit to see if it wants to go forwards or backwards in the gear you suspect is 6th or reverse. The SE-R Spec Vs like I have in this video have the 6 speed but the standard SE-R only has a five speed and the transmissions feel completely different as well. The 6 speed shifter feels very solid finding gears while the 5 speed always feels like it doesn't really want to be shifting lol. Anyway, if the gear right behind 5th is reverse than obviously you have a 5 speed, if right behind it is 6th and you have another gate to the right of 5th and 6th, than you have the 6 speed.

I don't like to throw around accusations without proof but it is quite possible he told you it was a Spec V, but just sold you a standard SE-R. I have seen lots of "Spec Vs" for sale on marketplace that are just AUTOMATIC SE-Rs.

Hard to say then, maybe at some point the 6 speed was swapped for the 5 speed due to damage or something, it really is a mystery.

I would think it would be due to worn piston rings, a common issue with the QR25s of this era

Not yet, but I did see one listed on marketplace for sale near me where someone had bolted a VQ and the 6 speed manual in the Sentra bay and fabbed the exhaust but couldn't figure out the wiring and I debated buying it to finish and resell for someone to rip around in.

@@HardAngle get it , finish it , then race it against a new type r , I'm sure it could be it. I'm looking for a clean blue 04 to 06 spec v with brembos. Vq swap has always been my dream. Travis Burrell was the original guy who did the first vq swaps.

Currently working on the engine right now, after tearing down the engine my best guess would be valve stem seals, they were very hard and brittle and the heads of the valves were soaked in oil but the ports themselves were dry which for me backs up that the valve stem seals were bad. You can find the engine teardown video on my channel if you want to see the condition of the engine.
