Just in case no one else has posted, a transistor is basically two diodes together when you test, if one of the junctions blows then the tester will see it just as a diode rather than transistor. Thanks for the video, keep em coming.

I always prefer when I see someone struggle through something for my entertainment. Of course it's fun seeing someone who knows what they're doing, but I personally think it's more fun seeing someone order something random and see if they can fix it, something about the learning process is fun to watch.
@StezStixFix3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree Jessica! It's more fun and more of a challenge when it's something I've never seen or opened up before!

Yeah I instantly figured Itnmight be the amplifying transistor. You can essentially use the other kind npn instead of pnp if you simply flip it around. The fact that it says diode is because the collector is faulty and the base and emitter works like a diode.

Not sure if this is helpful or not, but when I used to install head units in cars, I used to use a 9 V battery to determine which speaker wiring was designated in each corner of the car. By simply placing the wires on the respective positive/negative terminals, the speaker will respond with a mild click. I’m wondering if you can test small speakers like that in the future.

Good work mate, lovely. Your desoldering gun sounds exactly like my 1998 Seadoo XPL 3:37 when it was bogging down due to one of the membranes inside the carburetor failing. WROOOOOOOOOO WROOOOOOOOOOOOO

Just started watching your vids and have noticed you don't clean after soldering with alcohol to stop old flux eating away at your work otherwise great vids and keep it up .
@andyfairman78122 жыл бұрын
I agree that a good professional job includes cleaning up the flux afterwards (yes, neatness counts). That being said, most fluxes sold for this type of rework are not acidic enough to cause any long term damage. I've seen 50 year old flux that's hard as a rock that didn't create any problems on old boards. If you want to see what an acidic flux will do to a board, try using the flux used for soldering copper plumbing on a fix like this. It will eat away all the exposed metal and traces/vias in short order. Ask me how I know... :)
