I personally wouldn't have bothered taking it apart and replacing the cable. I'd have cut the damaged bit out and spliced in part of an old phone charger but both methods work!

If you think dogs are a danger to cables, try living with rabbits. How they're still alive is beyond me as several mains wires have been chewed to expose the live before we realised they live chewing them.

I think that strain relief will be a weak point still. I would have tied a knot inside the unit

Not only are your soldering skills great now but you’ve also started making it look easier and easier. Am I the only one who watches people make soldering look easy and then when it comes to doing it myself, I just end up frowning on top of my confused face as the solder doesn’t go where it should? 😂

I didn’t think I’d love this one as I didn’t think it was going to be ‘electronicy’ but I was wrong and loved the ending, how satisfying! How tempted were you to let them test it on yourself? Thanks for the extra videos Steve, hope you and your fam have a lovely Xmas and you take some well-deserved time to relax.

Thank goodness Dave (and some idiot) were able to fix this problem. The teamwork of Dave (and some idiot)fixed this amazing piece of video gaming history. JOKES ASIDE: I thought it was funny the customer addressed Dave first. Your vids have always been good n' fun (even when I skip over the singing) and I thank you for the entertainment

You should buy some uv curing glue for things like this... quite hard and bonds to many materials. Just a little around the edges, clamp then uv cure (dry in about 2 minutes). Then move on to the next corner, etc.

Great job. Didn't think you would find the fault or fix it. Visual inspection is underrated.

I’m about to take apart mine too. It’s having the same issue and I’m pretty sure mine’s a knock off. There’s absolutely no branding anywhere not even at the back of the controller.. I can’t believe that’s all that there is in there they could made it even smaller lol maybe I’ll make something for a new box and bring it with my name and sell it haha

With the strain relief, I usually find a drill bit about the same diameter as the old cable and clean out the hole before reusing it. I then slide the cable through the strain relief a little more than I need and then put superglue / epoxy on the cable and pull it back a little so the glue goes all the way in. I have never had any issues that way.

You couldn't pay yourself $6 an hour and make any money versus buying a new one I say that but the experience that I had watching you I enjoyed because I'm humbled by your patience I'm humbled by your ability to keep trying even though it seemed like that there was no way to win and yet you're going to find a way to win don't give up.

So a black wire is the ground the ground may not be connected that is what I've heard that's what has made out of things worked in my life like a wiper motor for my car reason that it didn't work with because it wasn't grounded humble and grounded makes everything else work better from me to you
@rogercollins265311 сағат бұрын
Don't you need a ground? I'm only asking that because I've heard others ask that so if it's not helpful I will not ask again does it need a ground.
@danielhulan305812 сағат бұрын
Shouldn't you have checked continuity to see what cables went to which pins on the usb? I haven't watched all yet but I just thought of that.
@rogercollins265312 сағат бұрын
Why is it working you deserve it see that's the real reason why it's working not stupid you somehow broke a leg and made it over the line and finished and your winner because your machine now does what it's about you and it did not do before somehow that was causing it not to do what you wanted it to do and now you somehow took apart off that you lost and now that part is gone and completely out of memory and or position in your particular world.
@rogercollins265312 сағат бұрын
I completely appreciate where you are right now which I say is in the weeds I would take watches apart and try to figure out how to make them work do you know what I came up with I'm not good at that but you are very good at that you understand that clock works way better than what I do I also come here to check myself and see where my humility is when I watch you and your videos I understand that humbleness and patience is the only way to really fix anything thank you

The cables on these are absolutely rubbish and it seems designed to trap and squash them underneath when you clamp it to a desk, even if no doggo is involved.

Just run a drill bit thru the strain relief and a touch of super glue to secure it to the new cable. Works a treat
@chillzwinter18 сағат бұрын
wow - I would have spent 2 minutes and just snipped out the bad bit and soldered it back together with black heatshrink, or if the cable ended up too short, just snipped back to the damage and soldered a new one there. Heatshrink is invisible to most 12-year-olds using this steering wheel, and will last another 20+ years - then charged the kid $20 for my effort.

These are professional grade sim racing wheels, mostly used by adults, but your point is still valid, I'd have probably done the same, although tbf that'd make for a pretty dull video😂
