Retired Trucker here.. Decades ago the weak part on a DD engine was the Altenator, but its one of the most reliable engines i had the pleasure of using in a Truck.(once you get used to the differing engine sounds from a Cat)

the Business class M2 is an excellent platform, these are primarily for the person who needs a city or local use truck although they can be outfitted with a sleeper. but they are the do all truck, I've seen them used as pick up trucks when outfitted with a an oversized dually bed, i've seen them as single axle tandem axle and even tri axle dump truck configurations, I've seen them with huge boxes with large sleepers used as hot shot over the road units, engines vary from small 4 cylinder to large inline 6. I was a freightliner tech when these came on the market, this was the beginning of big trucks that when you closed the door it sounded as solid as if you just closed the door of your car or pick up truck, it sounded solid, and air tight cab, these were the beginning of a new area of truck, a smaller scale of the Century class the evolved into the Columbia and then Cascadia. the M2 is a class 7 truck as to where the Century, columbia & Cascadia are class 8 trucks.

Just want to say Congratulations on your new purchases, it’s nice to see a couple as your selfs out there that’s motivated and positive and that stays on the grind with hauling cars paying off. I been driving a semi since January when I got my CDL but just recently decided I want to run my own my own business so I made the move. I just purchased a 2024 3500 dodge ram Dually and ordered my Texas pride 4 car hauler. I do have my D.O.T & M.C as-well but Still have a lot to do before I can get started. looking forward to see you guys out and about on the highway one day. Good luck on the that DEF system, that is the very first system that uses air to inject DEF, make sure you keep your air dryer serviced and keep water out of your air tanks, if water contaminates air system it will get very expensive

Dropping down to a M series gets you a smaller footprint, maybe a little lighter and probably easier access in and out. And if you’re still rated for 80k gross, you’ve got a bigger revenue payload capacity. And the truck having an incredibly shiny bright red paint job with a lot of shinny bright bits. Nice score.

California truck has to be 2010 or newer to register,but they change it to 2014 or newer now , not 100% percent but it’s worth checking

Get a hair dryer and run it over the plastic covering it pull off easy then you can just clean the glue off then easy to had lot sign stickers on a taii gate on a ute used the hair dryer worked good

Have the dealer these up to the horsepower/torque ratings. They may have it set as “economy”, if so it’s going to be gutless and you may not be able to go over a certain RPM.

@@riosautotransportllc anyone with a laptop may be able to go in there. Anyone can go in with a laptop, and make sure it’s set to performance, this gives you all the power that’s available. The power is controlled by how much throttle you give. In economy, you can give 100% throttle, but the engine will retard the power back making it seem like you’re only getting 60-70%. It will also have a throttle delay, fake turbo lag. If the truck is rated for 455/1,750 you may only be getting 350-370 hp, 1,250-1,450, a throttle delay, and progressive shifting enabled, meaning it won’t go over 1,700 or 1,800 rpm’s and forces you to shift early.
