Excellent choice! This could rival the Monster for your best build in my opinion. The best sounding super bike in my opinion. And I agree, the R1 is right there with the Panigale. A full Akrapovic system will sound ferocious.

Considering the firing order, and timing/spacing, yeah it plays a huge part, in the "pulse", for traction control. GP 500 cc two strokes, had "big bang" engines. Closely firing sequence of pistons, in a way acted like a single piston. ( loose description) Absolutely mad nutter, rider tossing monsters. Congrats on your purchase. Former 03 R1 rider here. Miss that sexy beast.

Oh, yes, the new, R1M what a beautiful piece of engineering, I've worked and ridden on a bunch of the R1 and before that beginning in 1987, the FZR 1000 and YZF 1000, but this going to be enjoyable to watch this bike build. ❤️👏👍😀😎

I know it’s a bit of a drive, but you should definitely take it to Nick Marino (Xplane R1 Custom Tuning) for the ECU flash and dyno tune. He’s the best in the business for the R1’s.

Yeah the R1M isn't a "limited" bike they're just numbered, gives you the feeling that you're special by having a number on the bike. You can basically go into any dealer and purchase one if they have a good Yamaha rep who deals with them. They don't sell a whole ton of them because of the price tag anyways so it's more of a demand thing, eventually the base R1 will look almost exactly the same as the R1M and be fitted with the same tech it might take a few more years though.
