I genuinely dont think your local garage does you any real favours considering how much you spend with them. Always seems pricey to me. But you are right, its really not worth the work for that margin. You could have possibly traded it on for a few quid and saved the hassle. Great video as always Matt.

Matt you must be the only car dealer in the UK that go to the lengths you do to prepare a car. Credit to you. I bought an Audi A4 from a local dealer a month ago and driven it once not seen it since. It had no coolant in it after getting it home realising that the heaters didn't work and after filling it up it all disappears shortly after. You'd think they'd at least check the basics before the car leaving.

In the first 500 miles i had a HG valve malfunction but 13 years later, 126k on the clock, two MOT fails, (leaky shocks) and some usual discs, pads, and two caliper issues. The 1.8 TFSI came with two output levels: 120HP or 160HP. The difference in these is in the ECU software. Mine was the 120 HP and it had just been equipped with new pistons, conrods and cam chain kit on goodwill by Audi dealer. Reason for engine rebuild was high oil consumption (mileage was 75.000). There was a bill of £5.500 in glovebox which had been split 80/20 between Audi and previous owner. I had the engine re-mapped to 160HP ("at least", said the guy behind the laptop) and that made the car 'rather nippy'.

I don't think is peak Audi like some people have mentioned, but it was definitely when they started turning things around and you can see the design language be carried on through the generations.

I had a very early 2008 Audi a4 with the 1.8T and it had 160,000 miles, burnt oil fairly well. Didn’t get more than like 20mph, only had the car about 5 weeks was an absolute dog. I would love another in good condition one day.

10:48 regarding the Manchester plate - I’m from Norwich and a few years ago I bought a car locally with a Norwich number plate. So I just assumed it had always been owned locally. That was until about a month later I noticed the dealership listed on the bottom of the reg plate … with a Falkirk postcode 😂😂 It prompted me to look at the stamps in detail in the service history (only glanced at them when I bought it). It had actually began life with a Norwich owner, then got sold to someone in Newcastle, then Falkirk (Scotland) and came full circle all the way back to Norwich again!! What were the chances 😂😂

Hi Matt. Just some heads up. Best tires should always be on the rear of the car because having understeer is safer than oversteer. Also these engines until about 2013 are one of the worst Audi ever made. Many people reporting these burning even 1l every 1000kms. Not all of them but many of them after a certain amount of mileage. They need the piston rings upgraded to the next version which is not a cheap thing to do. Avoid petrol audi 1.8/2.0 tfsi 2008-2013.

Another fascinating video. Can't help wondering how anyone makes money in this trade. The work needed doing to achieve the desired selling price and have a great team of trusted and not expensive repairers to call on. So does it mean the car was too expensive initially - which it didn't seem to be for a not very old 'premium' model that cost £25k new, or are cars too cheap at retail if technicians and auto repair specialists want to earn a living wage fixing them properly ? Then there's potential warranty costs to cover......😳

Burning oil at 100thous is poor for a German engine the old pd 1.9tdis would go to 400k and more if serviced regularly. 😂

You will have made a future owner happy and no doubt he will come back and buy another car and refer you to friends and relatives. Consider it a good investment for the future, good deeds always come back not always when you expect it to!

Big ouchie on that one… I’m amazed VAG hadn’t sorted the door lock mechanisms at this point… I had this issue (more than once) on a MK4 golf and a B7 A4.

I had the wet boot on my 2013 a4. It was caused by the vents behind the rear bumper. Other than this, it was a boring but dependable car!

Small wheels mean deep tyres less prone to pothole damage. You didn’t mention if you found how the water was getting into the boot.
