A friend recently bought an A4 estate with the 3.0 TDi and she was amazed at how fast it is. The phrase "like a freight train" definitely came up, they are deceptively potent engines. The thing that really shows how highly spec'd that A6 is that it has pretty much everything you expect in a brand new car. Maybe not quite as nice, especially the screen, but the kit is all there.

Swirl flaps are a non-issue on these ... you can simply disconnect the swirl flap motors and use VCDS to map out the "self check" that gets performed at startup - if the arms are worn even a tiny bit, they will throw a code the 2nd time the swirl flap doesn't fully open when starting the engine. I had mine done 2 years ago and the car remapped at the same time - zero issues since.
@Tom3294. Жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t disconnecting it just cause a large amount of carbon buildup, even more so now that it’s been mapped?

I like that era of Audi interior , they are just class. My dad had an old 2004 A4 2L its was lovely. Way better than the 2001 Proton Saga he had before it ( even tho they where MUCH better cars than they looked ).

Those diagnostic ones especially the cheapo ones are useless, they always throw up stuff that are not needed.I had a problem with my Audi and the mechanic used diagnostic machine which said i need some part that cost me £80 then fitting cost . Of course once it was fitted it never sorted the problem, wasted all the money.I had same problem with a VW golf in the main dealer it flashed up 5 problems. It was none of them , a local guy found a little wire had got the coating rubbed off it fixed with a little wire. The problem is real proper diagnostic machines cost thousands and the people that have them don't know what the figures mean when they use them, especially main dealers. Check out O Rileys you tube channel on diagnostics its a revelation.

In 2006 I had the saloon version as a company car - the 3 litre quattro. It went like stink but smoked a little even back then. I found it nippy but the power band was quite narrow - unless that was a diesel thing. In it's day it was quite something, as was a large powerful diesel engine. Diesel still had a bad reputation though more and more people were starting to realise they could be nippy. It was weird listening to you start yours up. It sounded exactly the same as mine did almost 2 decades ago. Brought back memories.

Have a 2010 audi a6 c6 avant I use as a cruiser to the south of Italy, a 1750 mile trip. For a yearly 14 year old car it gets 48 mpg fully laden, is more comfortable to sit in than all the other 3 to 4 year old cars I’ve done the trip in and it just eats up the miles. The only thing I dislike is that the standard xenon headlights are naff having experienced LED headlights in newer cars. You can in this sense feel the car has dated technology. Otherwise for it is ideal for these kind of trips.

Quattro luckily never had the multitronic, they all run with the ZF 6 speed converter

I recently purchased a 2006 Audi Q7 with the 3.0 TDI. It has 255,000 Kilometer and the interior shows it. many bits and pieces missing despite this one being top of the line with 2 tone, panoramic sunroof. Everything works. with that being said, i bought it cheap and it comes with 1 previous owner and all of it service records. it drives awesome. however, it does have the airbag light, TPMS light on, and it states that there are light bulbs out despite them all lighting up as they should. Also, the MMI system is stuck on radio mode. I think think that is where i should start. The timing belt has been serviced at the correct intervals. What's your opinion

I had one of these in Australia but it was the 2.4 litre V6. It was a lovely car and a great tourer. It also had the Multitronic gearbox which gave no problems but I sold it before it had chance to play up but after 5 years the car proved to be faultless.

You get a lot of car for your money. I bought a 2002 A6 C5 1.9 130bhp pd 6 speed sport that needed a bit of tidying it had 124,000 on the clock. It was back in 2010 for 2.2k. The new price was something like 33k in 2002! Very reliable engine! Only the electrical issues let the car down I had to get a secondhand replacement comfort module and keys. Then both rear window wires broke in the feeds to the doors I had to solder in a new bit of cable made me think it might have been a limo or taxi. Then a tyre fitter in France blew up my air conditioning compressor rubber safety clutch doing 120 mph in it without telling me he would test drive it. I then had to do the journey with no air conditioning as I had to take the radiator out to replace the pulley.

I had an Audi A4 3.0tdi from the same era... Looked after it faultlessly but then the engine gave me issues.. I traded in after for a new A4 Allroad 2.0tfsi.. Miss the extra torque and the 25% loss in economy but I still prefer the petrol.. Don't miss smelly diesel and diesel rattles... That was a great deal and you hardly made any profit at all - real mates rates...

Isn't a engine management light on an mot failure meaning its probably going to cost alot more to fix, having said that it's probably worth spending reading some comments on here.

One of my friends’ dads has the exact same year and spec but as a saloon. Car is at well over 250k miles and just keeps going, think it’s had its engine light on for the best part of a decade but as it’s a pre 06 car it gets away with it come MOT haha. Always been fond of it, despite the age feels far higher quality than some much newer Audis I’ve been in

The Audi MultiTronic was the beginning of the modern era of CVT’s and is possibly the best of any CVT to date. It’s responsiveness, traditional transmission feel, reliability and repairability is fantastic. It’s even more fun when combined with anything above the 1.8LTurbo.

Driven a lot of diesels over the years. The smokescreen on acceleration is pretty normal behaviour for diesels pre-dpf era. They are all like that, the dpf changed things I drove a 2007 A4 when brand new, and a 2004 Mondeo brand new and they were exactly the same

My uncle had the same car he bought it brand new from Doğuş Automotive in Turkey it was a 3.0 TDI Sedan with all the options he used it as his company car but after some time he retired the car he drove the car until a year ago it had over 400.000 kms and he was servicing it every 10.000kms the car didn't have a problem it had small problems like electronics failing and a DSG gearbox failure (it was a gearbox brain failure so a small issue) so overall it's a great car if you maintain it
