I got an i8 in Feb 2015, (64 reg) normally change my car every 3 years, but kept mine for 5 years. One of the best cars I ever had. Changed it for an 8 series convertible as the finance costs on a new i8 were stupid due to depreciation. Miss my i8 but do like the 8 series.

I don't think you're "bloody mad" Calvin. It's a bloody gorgeous car! For the mileage, it looks like a excellent buy! I think that as a Grand tourer, it does the job beautifully. As a daily driver it has it pegged too.

I actually quite like these. And I reckon hybrids are the way to go as a pose to pure electric so as to make longer journeys more feasible until the battery tech is all the way there. Thing is if for some reason the grid went down it’s not such a huge issue if you have a hybrid

@@TheHoosiers2008That's a moot point, you mostly have a tank full and you are pretty much fine until the power comes back. On the other hand full EV's need to be charged DAILY if you want to go further than the supermarket. The future is hybrid, and until battery tech makes a significant jump, it's gonna stay that way.

What a cracking piece of kit. Only 360 bhp but can beat an S4 after 161k miles. BMW quality shines through again. Love this car lots. £30k? Bargain.

I have a protonic red one. Amazing car, the styling, the doors, the power to economy is absolutely great but the handling is just as good and it’s also very comfortable and full of tech (although blindspot assist would be a welcomed addition). For someone like me (27 years old, no kids, have to travel 40 miles 4 days a week to work) it’s the perfect daily/everyday sports car.

All the big boys may like cars but they do it for the ad revenue aspect. We all have bills to pay. I’m amazed this is actually intended some sort of criticism. You can be passionate about cars AND want to promote your business at the same time.

I've got one of the last examples made. It's noticeably quicker than this one, but I suspect after 161k miles a few ponies have escaped out the back. I use mine as the daily driver and apart from it being the same width as a Range Rover and a pain to park cannot fault it really.

I did 50k kms per year on my Citroens (for about 25 years) 90% highway driving. Will go past 400k kms easily with regular servicing and maintenance. Highway mileage highway cars are good buys

Thinking a 19 plate i8 might satisfy some car love and might also keep my employer with their ridiculously strict CO2 limits satisfied. How quickly did this one sell I wonder.

It is not a Mini engine. It was developed specifically for the i8. Later down the line BMW decided to use it also in a Mini. Thus it is a i8 engine in a Mini, not vv.

The E Drive exterior sound is the humming noise that comes from the car when moving off in electric mode(warns people around it by making a cool humming sound) . There should be a option to turn it off and on in the setting and you'll then be able to hear it

30,000 worth of repairs to cover is a no brainer Go the old girls time after time. 160,000 miles, is about 256,000 kms which in Australia has just been run in!!! I do 60,000km every year driving to work and back home. My "day drive" is a 2019 Volvo XC90 which has just hit 220,000 kms and apart from hitting a Roo last year and I had to drive it with one headlight for 9 months until the parts arrived from Europe. I have a 2003 Cayenne 955, and a Lexus SC430 (yes the dreaded worlds worst car, thanks Hamond) both with over 200,000km on them which are great "Toys" for the outlay. Good video mate Cheers from Oz

Probably part of the reason the car was so cheap was because the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Also you forgot to use Launch Control for your timed speed runs and there is a fault warning displayed on the instrument display in one of your video shots. It would be nice to know what that was. Nice to know the car has held up well with all the mileage.

I had one of these for a bit and it was a great car, if charged you get some good MPG and there isn't anything else that looks like it on the road. It's funny when you catch the internal sound speaker out when giving it the beans 😂

My M2 OG has just over 81000 mile on the clock and thought this was pretty high for a 18 plate BMW. Just shows how well they made these cars with 6 cylinders and hybrid in this time frame.
