Yep. I love the hemi half build, have watched that a couple times😊. The revivals are great, have watched a few like the bland national and Buick t-type. I'm waiting to see the Fairlane footage that he and Tony from stay tuned built, will definitely watch that a few times, awesome car. I was laughing the other day watching Derek doing some mowing withe the rough mower. How many people are going to sit through a 30 minute video of someone mowing weeds? The guy whether he's goofing off or being serious just has a way of mesmerizing people. Oh, the Christmas special with the shortcut bus trip-i hurt myself laughing on that one, definitely worth many watches.

Those little 200's are great engines. Back in the day I bought a '68 Fairlane from a guy for a hundred bucks. It was sitting out in his back yard on four flat tires and hadn't run in ages. I aired up the tires, put a battery in it, poured some gas in the carburetor and drove it out. My plan was to drive it through the winter as a beater but I kept it and drove it for eight years. A kid down the street loved it, so I wound up giving it to him for free and he was still driving it 2 years later when I moved out of the neighborhood.

@@joesmith1067 Most of my cars back in the day were in the $100 range. After the latest gave up the ghost, I was telling a guy at work and he said he had a sister with an old junker behind the garage. Don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure it was under $100. Gotta remember, minimum wage back then was $2.75. Anyway, we went to look at it after work and yep, it ran so that was good enough for me. I didn't care what it was really. I wasn't a car guy. I drove it home and went to bed. I worked the night shift. My Brother came over later and he is a car guy and asked me where I got the goat. He said the G.T.O. I told him and he about shit. Turns out it was a 67 and was much in demand even back then. This was in 79. It was dented and rusted really bad but man did that thing run. That's the kind of thing we'd often see.

Straight 6's do run forever, however they're always gutless. They don't make enough power or RPMs to hurt themselves. The inline design is balanced way better than a V-8 can be, and the pistons being straight up and down have less friction and wear compared to a V or flat (boxer) configured engine, where the pistons are laying on their sides.

Hi Derek. Well that takes me back a year or two. My old mate Mat who has now long since past away purchased a 65 mustang direct from the USA imported it to Tasmania (Island off the south coast of Australia.) and had it changed from left hand drive to right hand. Coolest thing since sliced bread. There was no roads in or out of the town of any distance and it was gravel. Anyway a quick burn up the the main drag and then back to parking it outside the shops. The car was brand new so it did not smoke but we made up for that. Cool dudes with nowhere to go. Oh to go back in time. 83 years old now but great memories. Cheers from down under. 😅😅😅

Looking back in times past always brings a smile to my face, times back then seemed simpler, people had more time to say "hi" and if you broke down on the road someone would stop and help. These days you hear of someone stopping to help, only to be robbed, or their car stolen by the people who were "broken down"...... I'm 63.

My first car was a blue '65 Mustang that I bought for $20 from a guy 3 blocks down my street. It overheated in the first block. My dad walked over with a watering can and we limped it home... He was no mechanic, but he and my Ford engineer brother in law, and their inexperienced assistant (me) tore it apart, and $400+ later it was road worthy. I learned ALL about that car from front to back. (It turned me into a lady gear-head, and I'm proud of it) My dad accidentally shorted part of the electrical system, so I had no idea how much gas was in it, or how fast I was going. I learned how to figure those things out. I loved that car, and drove it for years, until I could afford a new car. I should have kept it. Wish I could get another one.

Tire conditioner. It says use 1 can, i put it every week. Mix flavors, brands, it really is expensive, but snake oil saves big bills later

We would often watch a KZbin channel about motorcycles together. We were fortunate to go to our first car show together last summer and he absolutely loved it. I wish we found this KZbin channel earlier because i would have loved to watch it with him but now I use this channel as therapy. This was a great ditty! I thought, more than once, probably more than twice, well, he’s dealing with a Ford, when nothing else will run any Ford can be made to. You proved that once again. I even remembered that me cousin had a green one ‘exactly’ like this one. Whenever he finished working on it he’d leave my Uncle Kenny’s tools all over the driveway and yard. Me Dad would go over there and tell his brother, “Well, Ken, if you can’t take care of your tools I will do it”, while he was picking them up and sliding them into his back pockets. It was a thing I will never forget. Well, I did forget but, I remembered it while I watched your ditty. Excellent do, Derek!

Half-hearted "disagree" on this one. Yeah, it's nice to see Derek make the Big Leagues and get his own show, but unfortunately they (MT) seem to have taken some of the best parts of VGG and toned them down or deleted them altogether. Some examples: Where are the goofy finger pointing scenes with the hand-held GoPro/iPhone? "Distributor"? "Alternator"? What happened to the "spark-a-whirler"? Other than a few scenes where Derek gets to be Derek ("fuel-make-it-happener"), parts of the show makes me feel like I'm watching one of those How To Work on Your Car shows that air on Saturdays ("We'll be right back" for commercial breaks, anyone?). Much like how MT (kinda-sorta) ruined "Roadkill", I say, "Hey, MT: Let Derek be Derek, Dammit!"

That cowl vent cover is a kludge to keep water out of the interior, because the cowl vent holds water and rusts out. I bought a '65 once with that "keep leaves out" story, and removed the cover once Fall rolled around and I needed the defogger to work. Then the first time it rained, I found out what the cover was really for.

The AFTERMARKET is a joke!. Everything comes from China and Dynacorn panels are TERRIBLE. The body's of these are like your teeth. When they go they go. The days of finding a fresh one are gone.. that's why patinas and rat rods are phasing in. You really want donor cars for OEM panels. Motor and transmission parts are good because they HAVE TO WORK.. but little things like thermostats can burn it down.. Corporate America is killing the hobby!

Man, this is like a blast from my past... When I was growing up, our family's first new car was a 1965 Mustang, Poppy Red with black vinyl interior, 6 cylinder with the "3 by the knee" transmission. This was the car that I learned to drive in, and was my Dad's daily driver until about 1971 when his daily 110 mile commute took its' toll on it. With almost 200K miles on it, it was using almost as much oil as gas, and he traded it in on a 1972 Ford Courier... so instead of my first car being a Mustang, I wound up with my Grandmother's old 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air. I've always wondered how my future would have differed based solely on my first car...
