Derek, my thoughts on what to do with this truck would be make a project out of it. Pull the engine and tranny, do a quick refresh of the engine with new rings, bearings, and rework the valves, seals and gaskets. Then replace the clutch, make needed brake repairs. For the body, clean up the rust, and preserve the rest of the surface, maybe even apply a VGG wrap. Obviously you would redo the interior. Then use the truck around your home, for running to town for parts and supply's. You could even use it for resurrection's, (take your tools and parts with you) if you had a helper ride along with you to drive it back. Maybe you could even have a selection process and pick a fan to ride along and help and drive. A lot of possibility's.
@algorithms-memo104 Жыл бұрын
The decision probably got made months ago, but I'm thinking you've brought home enough GM products with good-enough 350s to just swap one out for this engine, then you have one to get rebuilt nicely and drop into whatever car or truck could use it. I don't know enough about your business to know whether there's room in your service fleet for this one, but if so just throw some VGG branding on the doors and throw on some wiper blades? Maybe even a seat? Or a temp gauge that's not broken off, naah! Thanks for the excellent channel!

We had a lot of these 3/4 ton work trucks. They were all 350’s with 3 speed auto. With 411 gears and one 16 gallon fuel tank, the range was about 80 miles and that’s how far our plant was from the nearest large town. No aircon, no radio, great in the summer in the south. We had 2 colors of interiors, either tan or blue. The local upholstery shop kept two spare seats in stock, a tan and a blue. We generally wore them out about once a year. Looks like he drove that seat about 30 years.

Derek, I’m a Brit with lots of love for America and especially the American people I’ve met. You restore my belief that there’s good people everywhere, trying to get up and out from under a crushingly poor hand they’ve been dealt. You’re an example of an old fashioned, proper way to be. Thank you. Mike

Great revival! Nice rig. I’d get rid of the service box and make her a going to town rig. Replace the seat also. Thanks for another great video.

Personally I'd return it to a regular truck and strip all that extra stuff off. Repair the rust and get her looking good, maybe even a new paint job. Follow that with new engine seals and a standard rebuild. With that it would be even more dependable and fun. Great episode, thanks for sharing :)

Agreed. Could also mount those tool boxes on a flatbed if you have one laying around out there.

Touching base Derek,you never forget where you started.Thats why we consider you real people.I think this rig should be restored as a personal service rig.Then use it to go pick up and get on the road other drive home finds.Jessica might appreciate that.Great work ,and the line that I remember is,"I need a Tanya Harding,that was a street punch.

Just watching VGG makes my day. The way he explains everything thing is just incredible. I have adopted a few of his terms and everyone wonders what the heck I'm talking about. But what's a fella to do. I've learned what to do and what not to do. Thank you Derek

im a big fan of the service truck flavour of this particular rig. Even if it has a regular bed. Id actually love this rig for myself, what with having the on-board compressor and such. It also reminds me of a welding rig my uncle had in the 90s.
@williamrogers5577 Жыл бұрын
I think it's time for VGG to dabble in the diesel world. A nice 12 valve cummins would make that a really good revival rig with the boxes and such. Plus those 12 valves don't have the digitals and we know that makes a feller happy. Just food for thought. Keep up the good work!

It'd be neat to see this truck driven by a buddy as a support vehicle on power tour!
@billdeanscoutermoose9430 Жыл бұрын
It would be cool to see the compressor work again, even if it eventually gets removed. Then an "oily rag resto" What a great thing to have for cruises or even Power tour. fill the boxes with cold snacks and jerky :D Lovely example of a Square body. Nice find

Now that went a lot smoother than I imagined. Felt pretty good when you were able to get the pump-o-lator primed and it just started immediately. Decent body, think it would make a very nice work truck with some help.

Great entertainment as always Derek. As for Remington's future... I'd say that trucks soul is a service truck, keep it a service truck.
