The Thanos arc was one of the best stories to come out back in the day. We couldn’t wait for the Two in One issue to come out. That was Starlin at his best! Even the Dreadstar series was great. You pretty much grabed anything that he had his name on it!😂

Lately, one of my pet projects is to provide some cheap comic books in a small town where I currently live. From July to Mid-September I bought cheap comic books from one dollar to 50 cents to 25 cents. Most which are beginner comics. First issues between DC, Marvel, and Image (still working my way through Dark Horse, IDW Publishing, Boom Studios, etc.). My local Friends of the Library store has a major lack in graphic novels, and I intend to fix that. And maybe repeat the process at 3 other thrift stores in my area, too.

I remember I was visiting family in Arizona when that issue of Spectacular with Peter and Harry fighting on the cover came out. We saw so much cool stuff while we were out there, and I always had my comics with me. Infinity War was going on, Bishop had just recently had his first appearance. Ah, the memories!

Some amazing finds and definitely worth what you paid! I have those Drake's cake minis also! all of the first set, and missing one from the second, I believe. As you can guess, I am especially psyched about all the Spider Man comics! LOL! That Mockingbird Team Up is on my wish list. I have a good portion of the run right around that one! That would be Thor vs Hulk! I only started comics a few months before that, Avengers 109 (Hawkeye quits), then the gems of 110-111, with the X-Men and Magneto! Widow joins and then quits two issues later. Mantis joins, then Avengers-Defenders War, Rugland, Zodiac, Agatha Harkness, Kang’s Celestial Madonna. Englehart still one of my fave writers.

Starhawk is a long-time member of the real Guardians Of The Galaxy, not the rubbish team in those boring movies. And I support you reading the origin of the Guardians in that Astonishing Tales issue, it's a great fun story. I agree that the Scarecrow/Straw Man is underused - I've always found him to be an interesting character. Scott Edelman's explanation of the Scarecrow's origin, which appears as a text piece in Dead Of Night #11, offers some great insights into what Edelman wanted to do with the character. The Avengers Annual/Two-In-One Annual crossover by Starlin is one of the most memorable stories of my childhood. All that great reading matter is certainly worth what you paid.

Speaking of characters that were similar, I read two Marvel Epic collections, The Ghost Rider and Son of Satan. I really felt like I was reading the same book. Both characters had an alter ego. Both changed when the sun went down, or when there was a full moon. I guess you could throw in Werewolf By Night too and that would be yet another similar character. Anyway, I thought I would mention this observation.

I think your assessment is spot on. But the Batman 244 with the Ra’s al Ghul cover is a good one. The underground ones are fun. I always have to look at key collectors app to see what printings they are as different printings have different values. The treasury edition books (large ones) are fun too. Also the What if HulkWolverine is worth a few bucks If you get the rest at a deal it might be worth the gamble And then again might not. So I am no help. I always say. Education is not free. I had a decent collection when I was young, Mostly Marvel's with many DC's from the 1960's. Along with the first 12 issues of Silver Surfer, I collected Spider Man, The Fantastic Four, etc. My mother tossed them all when I moved from the family home! I saw " The Silver Surfer" #2 selling for $900 years later. That ended my fascination with comic books. Thanks Mom.

Definitely a good pick up. Is the Dazzler #1 the error copy? 2 pages (ads) are black and white instead of color. 1st appearance of Mockingbird awesome and that Legion of Monsters boom, even in bad condition to have. The mark Jeweler's you can sometimes look down on the top of the book and see a white stripe in the middle of the book. Thats how I've found alot of mine. Awesome grab.

I always look for the 1970's price variant which most people don't pay any attention to. They are in the most part very valuable since they were short printed and not seen anymore unless u find them in a large lot or like what u found an old box lot.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but the storyline of the What If... Wolverine Killed the Hulk? sounds a lot like what they did with the introduction of Wolverine in the Ultimate Universe. He was working with Magneto as an assassin, was told to infiltrate Xavier's school as a new recruit for the X-Men in order to kill Xavier, fell in lust with Jean Grey (kind of icky considering their age difference) and then came to believe in Xavier's message. Only thing not in there was him killing the Hulk. Although there is a mini-series where they fight.

That Ironman Hulk antman book is the first time iron defeats the Hulk. A very good read. A 2 or 3 issue story.I have the what if book. Mockingbird is one of my favorite heroines. West Coast avengers 100 or 101 is a Mockingbird must read. RED Foil COVER.

I must be old. I don't collect anything after 1975 or 1976. Once the price moved above $0.25 per issue I basically ignore them. Most of my collection is Marvel and DC comics between 1960 and 1975.
