A freind of mine was issued a body camera. First day ... 2 hours into his shift it came in very handy. He stopped a woman for several moving violations and ticketed her. She later claimed he made improper advances. She also claimed he tried to make a "deal" not to write the tickets. They reviewed the video and go figure it was found that he was 100% by the book and it was she who was trying to "make a deal" guess she was pissed it didn't work. What pissed me off is that they didn't charge her for making a false report. Every cop I know likes the body cam. It's irrefutable evidence of what really happened and what was really said.

My ex was a Traffic Operations Group Police Officer and they work solo, doing pursuits and of course traffic work. Way before body cameras he carried a voice recorder in his shirt pocket to protect himself. Helped to convict a driver who tried to bribe him.

Similar thing happened to me once; after a scene investigation in my front yard following an event across the street, I found a weapon in my garden! I "did the right thing" and called the police to turn it in, but the detective was rude and talked down to me....sooo... they didn't get that weapon I found. I was so insulted that I simply apologized for wasting his time (sarcasm was intended, but he was such a pompous jerk that he didn't hear it.) Maybe most cops are OK guys, but when they are jerks, they don't win!

I worked on patrol cars for years. You wouldn't believe the vireraty of things I found stashed by criminal that wear not properly searched before being put in the vehicle. The horn button is used to operate the police sirens so the wire gets cut .

The car has 60k miles on it but the engine has a lot more hours running than most cars. Cop cars are usually left running during the entire shift so you can't trust how good a cop car engine is by the mileage also police are not typically gentle drivers as they don't care for the car as they do their personal vehicle.

Having watch a number of your videos, it appears the police in your area are terribly slack about removing personal and department property from their salvage vehicles. All those guards, cages, grills, personal gear, etc, cost $$$$ to replace. Maybe taxes in the Socialist People's Republic of Kalifornistan wouldn't be as high if they'd keep up with their gear better.

alot of that stuff is specific to the crown vic which they stopped selling around 10 years ago. most of the other stuff is all older tech too. the lights are prob the only thing worthwhile, and even then the lights aren’t worth much either. norm easier just to take off the stickers and get rid of the asset itself. he can make alot flipping the parts but most depts dont keep crown vics anymore so keepimg vehicle specific items isnt worth it.
