great buy redo a full coolant bleed but with the car front DOWN ( stands in the back only ) you have air in the system that wont go away -put max coolant > warmup until thermostat open > open bleeder on the cap > let air out -go for a ride 5min > stop > open bleeder again -last coolant level its a known issue its a free fix if its works

986 Boxster owner here. The bumper off rad clean out is routine maintenance. Next time use a hose from behind to flush out debris. Also, can you show us any flood damage? If a module got wet that can cause issues.
@Dewree69
@Dewree69 8 сағат бұрын
The coolant system is notoriously hard to bleed on these cars, maybe it's just not bled properly! Maybe the thermostat is faulty? I'd also recommend a head gasket tester from any car parts store - usually a blue liquid tank that turns yellow if there are any exhaust gasses in the cooling system. That's a pretty cheap and definitive way to find out if your cooling issues are caused by a head gasket or something else.

996 is my favorite 911 generation, and yours is stunning! Recent porsche owner myself, bought a 944 a few months ago. It also has some very finicky cooling issues. Going off the fact that this is a flood title, I would really dial in the electrical aspect. Could be a short somewhere and the cooling fans aren't running. I'd also check the temp sensor(s), as they could be giving false readings to both the gauges but also the ecm. Good luck! Can't wait to see where this goes.

Great score! The next obvious step for the cooling issue will be to replace the thermostat, check the internal condition of the radiators and pipes, and vacuum bleed the system with the nose down. Good luck and congratulations!

Not sure if you plan on addressing it in a future vid but I also have an aero kit 911 and they like to warm up in traffic and going slow up hills/mountains. I recommend a boxster S center radiator, the whole assembly can be had for less than $300 used and will go right in place. You just have to cut out the center vent on your bumper. LN engineering low temp thermostat is my next move but I’ve heard of the ecu throwing a trouble code for not getting up to temp, still might be worth a shot

Nice new project, if you email Porsche in Germany since you have done work for them, they will gladly give you the info you need to get to the root of the overheating problem, a friend of mine who lives in Germany and did work for them back in the early 2000's had issues with a Porsche he bought used a year later about the IMS bearing and the local Porsche dealer wouldn't help him in any way and got the info from Porsche just from sending an email to the division he did the work for and they recommended exactly what he needed to hear, maybe you could get the same if need be, i think you'll solve it without that, i know they pressure test to find out if the head gasket is weak or leaking, look forward to the next video 👍cars in greast condition for its age

On flood cars as other have said, you will have to check every possible sensor and electric connection. Do it now and rip that band aid rather than doing it piece by piece.

Personally I would have kept the exhaust with 'mufflers' on the car, with the deleted one it's too loud for my liking, I would imagine it would get annoying on a long trip, difficult to hear the sound system etc. But it's your car.... I hope you sort out the cooling issue.

@@wheelemverb/videos My brother's had the same issue - that's not a flood thing. If i were you, i'd clean every board that shows any sign of water (touching it). Dust and grit are conductive. Depending on how good the refurb was, these might've been overlooked tasks which will eventually catch up with the car. Another thing that he had (issues with) was the rear main seal. Given you don't have any patches, blotches...you might be ok, but you also might just be on the cusp of it failing. Keep that in mind. I'd have to check to be sure, but his failed at around 50k (km), i didn't do his service back then so i don't know for certain. That said, enjoy the car. I might not be a Porsche guy, but i do appreciate how "spot on" this car is every time i get my brother's for repairs. Certainly in terms of looks it's 100% a classic of our times. Good luck!

Had similar issues with mine took forever to bleed out the air with all that length of hose. Also, pull your water pump and inspect/replace because the stock ones have plastic impellers and they literally disintegrate the blades and don't move enough coolant. FCP Euro sells a full pump and thermostat kit for under $300

Kinda off topic, but would you know why my fan on my '01 XC70 doesn't turn on? I replaced the thermostat, replaced the fan and I know the fan is good because i put it on my 2003 S60 and it turned on, but when i put the S60 fan in the XC70 it didn't turn on, replaced the 60 amp fuse and filled it up with coolant! (I have also observed that some coolant has gone missing), if you have any idea i would appreciate it

Have you considered the water pump not circulation of water in the system or a blockage thru the system at a thermostat? Or the radiator blockage on the inside of the system thru sealer material?
