Since 2005 each individual electrical component is programmed to the chassis number it is fitted to so when you place each item it has to be programmed to the car. When flooded it isn't clean water it can be carrying anything including pathogens that could be hazardous to health. There will be numerous electrical components affected plus the engine. Hence the reason why it has been written off. What you really have is a car that is only fit to be broken for the body shell and any other components that would not be affected by water.
@nigelcox14513 ай бұрын
Absolutely. Written off due it being a serious health hazard. Interior full of spores, including in every inaccesible nook and cranny. Needs reimmersing in a bath of disinfectant. When working inside, or even disturbing under the bonnet, ideally needs an air fed respirator, like paint sprayers use. Ensure air intake to the compressor is away from this car.
@xen.71403 ай бұрын
"Since 2005 each individual electrical component is programmed to the chassis number it is fitted to so when you place each item it has to be programmed to the car. " This is the LEAST of his problems 🤣. Whatever could be salvaged here, such as headlights and taillights, are easy to reprogram. "When flooded it isn't clean water it can be carrying anything including pathogens that could be hazardous to health." He won't be saving the seats, or any interior parts obviously. He picked this car for the engine and possibly gearbox, but I'm pretty sure it's all dead weight at this point. "What you really have is a car that is only fit to be broken for the body shell and any other components that would not be affected by water." This is true, and the body parts for that car are fairly expensive. For example, just the front bumper is minimum 500-600 EUR, then the rear bumper etc..

What's going to be your salvation is that the engine has not turned over since it was flooded. The oil pan full of water just served to float the oil up higher, probably enough to cover the crankshaft and protect it from rust. You will have to disassemble and clean the engine, but other than gaskets and seals, you can probably save this engine with no parts required.
@ambitiousautos10643 ай бұрын

I'd suck those cylinders out before you try cranking and even with the spark plugs out it's a lot of water and could still hydro-lock. Otherwise, being it was fresh water then the internals should generally be OK but reckon a fair few sensors will need swapping for the Skoda items. If the water got into the connectors it'll have wicked its way all the way up to the sensor.
