I don’t have anyone I could trust in Jamaica so I couldn’t make such a purchase, but I hope that one day I can sell one of my properties in the USA and use that money to purchase something in Jamaica.

Yes, crime is a huge issue here, but there are still places that are relatively safe. If owning "a piece a yawd" is your dream then contact a local realtor, let them know what you're looking for, and go from there. I wish you the best, take care :)

@@alexw876 I will eventually buy something in 🇯🇲 but I don’t think it’s wise for me to have real estate in 🇯🇲 if I am not able to oversee my investment. From my understanding, Jamaicans who live overseas are seen as foreigners, and it is often assumed that those foreigners are oblivious of crooks and scammers who they (the so called foreigners) sometimes find themselves trusting to oversee their properties. I am a positive individual, but I have been through many Life’s experiences that taught me how to be street smart and to live my life cautiously. Therefore, I can’t or wouldn’t trust anyone to oversee my property other than myself.

I think where things really go wrong is when people take a hands-off approach to their own investment, which doesn't make sense or send a good message to those looking on. It's just one of those things you do when the time is right and you have time to pay attention to it; once you do that things should work out fine. Still invest in cameras and other devices that will help you monitor the place even when you're not there though. Other than that we welcome you and all other Jamaicans back home when the time comes; there's no place like yawd!! :)

Anyway, as I said, I am glad you understand my perspective especially because I am a single female who some wicked people might more likely see or assume is an easy target. I have dealt with romance scammers and scammers (both male & female) in my own family, so when I tell you that I am street smart I am not joking and this is why I live my life cautiously. Essentially, trust is earned with me and it will always be that way because to trust could be the difference between life & death. Trust your instincts; not cameras.
