Hate to be that guy, but I've never heard of a humvee coming with a 6.0 engine. They started off as 6.2 naturally asperated, then upgraded to a 6.5 naturally asperated briefly in 94 and have been a turbo 6.5 since 95 I believe. The 6.5 turbo diesel had a lot more power, but was still fairly slow in armored versions. (I know first hand because my k2500 Suburban has the same motor, and I have lots of experience running armored and unarmored humvees). Look forward to seeing the progress!

Beat me to it. The alpha version used the 6.5 duramax. I know at one point they were talking about adding a gas option, cant remember if it was supposed to be a 350 or 454 but im not sure if any were made. She could probably do a tuned duramax swap fairly easy i would think.

6.5 NA was available for quite a few years, that's what my 99 M1097A2 has in it. I was in the Marines 2002 - 2010, I didn't see a turbo model until 2008.

SO the guy that works on HMMWV while in reserve doesn't even know there was never a 6.0????? That is pretty scary. And that they went for a drive with that very compromised front tire. Asking for a major crash as it blows out. I know this is for entertainment purposes, but get the facts straight. That exhaust is getting ready to fall off as well with more than 1/2 the pipe rusted thru...And that is the tip of the ice berg of problems on that thing

Just a couple minor corrections/addendums... That is a flex plate inspection cover that someone cut a chunk out of not a bell housing. Also that is a 6.2 liter normally aspirated diesel engine not a 6.0. It should also have a TH400 3 speed transmission. The later versions have a 6.5 L turbo charged diesel and a 4L80E 4 speed overdrive transmission. The larger engine with boost and the 4th gear really make the vehicle more livable at highway speeds. Also the no key deal is so that you don't have to worry about where they went if someone needs to move or use a vehicle that they don't normally use. There should have originally been a chain and padlock under the drivers seat to chain the steering wheel to help keep causal unauthorized use to a minimum. In the event that they really needed to move them just go down the line with bolt cutters and anyone can jump into any of them. Almost no military vehicles have keys. The old CUCV Chevy trucks where civilian trucks with a few military options. They do have keys but they have the same key for all of them so again anyone can operate the rig without having to dig through a huge key box to sort out which keys go to which rig.

Front line military vehicles dont have keys. The last thing you want to have to do when in a hurry, is try to figure out which pocket you put your keys in. We used to weld chains to the floor next to the seat in the deuces and 5 tons. Then you would wrap them through the steering wheel and padlock them to secure the vehicle.

Looking at that front drivers tire, you might also want the alignment done also. One of the things I would get done asap since you are making it a gamer Humvee and not bushwhacking with it, is upgrade that diesel to a more modern diesel with turbo so that you can bring it up to highway speed

That was not the bell housing it is called an Inspection Cover. The inspection cover is not required unless you are rock climbing. It will just keep debris from hitting the flexplate.

Be sure to have your knuckle gear boxes serviced. You do not want the tire and axle coming off the truck at 55 mph. Don't forget to check the blinker fluid! 1994 Humvee has a Detroit 6,5L diesel engine with a turbo 400 3 speed transmission. The Humvee and a duece and 1/2 or 5 ton truck would be a much better investment than the tank or scout vehicle. I have a Humvee that I put a 3" lift on it, 40" tires, and put a Cummins 6BT engine in it among other upgrades.

Get rid of that junk fram filter before it destroys the motor and put new exhaust on. The flywheel cover isnt a big deal and i wouldn't even worry about that. Get an alignment before new tires and itll be golden.

@@omc-slugbug5745 Yeah, I get that it's still pretty much going to be a slug, but raising the ring and pinion gear ratio the same on both front and rear HAS to increase the overall speed. Does it not? I'm no HUMVEE mechanic by any means (and don't claim to be), but it's my understanding that introducing a higher gear ratio at the chunk is going to increase top end speed - even if there's another gearbox at the hub. More RPM at the axle = more RPM at the hub = more RPM of the tire. That's how gears work. Correct? How much it would increase depends on how high the gear is raised. I don't know if that would create a longevity issue or not. Wouldn't think it would burn them out at normal highway speeds, but again, I'm no HUMVEE mechanic. I do know an old Motor T Jarhead or two who would definitely know.

@@jesseglenturner yes everything stated above is correct but they are gear reduction and in turn multiplicatively change ratios. My understanding was if the actual differential gears are changed the effect would be astronomically different at the wheels. Looking thru some old manuals and a little poking around online says the diff ratio is 2.73:1 and the gear hubs them selves then add 1.92:1 making 5.24:1 overall ratio. I don't know if I did that math correctly but it's pretty high and my NCO always warned us the bearings in the hub are already very finicky so trying to push any more speed or torque thru that would be a bad day. Just my understanding.

Hey Alex. I bought two humvees for my ranch and rigged them out. I promise you it’s a hole that you throw money into. Constantly have problems. Sold one HMV already. My dad has mechanics that maintains a fleet of trucks for his business so we can keep up with it sorta but I wouldn’t recommend it for a high end gaming rig. Sounds like an absolute nightmare

Semantics. Also, these use what is referred to as a flex plate, which is slightly different than a flywheel, and said flex plate is indeed completely covered by the bell-housing. The particular "cover" you are referring to is actually an inspection plate. If you're going to attempt to correct someone, at least know what the fuck you are talking about.
