Military grade is a baseline. At least in the US, you can almost always get better civilian versions of military gear. But military grade gives you a degree of compliance where you can be certain that it meets certain basic requirements for durability and interoperability. The last thing you want is out-of-spec MOLLE or other critical components.

@@ElvenMans It's what happens when you put aggressive mud tires on something at higher speeds. Most cars and highway-type vehicles come with less aggressive, quieter, lower-rolling-resistance tires. People who go offroad(or "want" to go offroad) put big, knobby tires on trucks(and anything else they have) these tires are good for mud, sand etc... Highway noise is much higher though.

i will say this, it could be a re-production, could also be somebody got ahold of a wrecked real one, and did something silly, put the body of a h1 on the frame of another vehicle, and, the flaws...well..they would make total sense to me if the thing had been re-build on a different frame by people who didnt give a shit if the work was perfect, or care if it would hold up long term. as to latches like that... i have seen those after market doors on h1's i know are 100% legit, they SUCK, but the one owner said, his wife was the one who had the originals his came with replaced when she had the seats replaced with comfortable ones, rather then the legit h1 seats the military used back then, (he got his with a blown engine and in need of if not a full replacement on the drive train, at least a rebuild.. his brother rebuilt it for him when he was consulting for the military in the middle east for 6mo... really he was keeping equipment working despite buggy software and hardware....mil grade!!!)

There's inboard brakes on either side of each pumpkin, and there's drop down gear boxes on every wheel. When I was in Iraq I figured out a way to do the brakes pretty quick. Civilian H1 should be just about the same, until they came out with the H1 Alpha which actually had a good engine. You should be able to buy a non-turbo one at a military auction no problem. Good luck with doing anything as far as maintenance, for every bolt there is a nut on the other side of wherever the hell it's bolted to and you need an extra set of hands and a third arm. *** oh there is a way to fiddle with the injection pump on the turbo models, to give it more fuel, the fan takes so much power. it only cools itself when it gets hot, and there is a fan cut off switch when you hit the accelerator pedal, so it can accelerate to 60 faster. I always dreamed about having an h1. To me it's just the american spirit in a vehicle. Even the soldiers that I heard complain would admit that even if it did break, most ANYBODY could fix it. Remember when you could fix a car YOURSELF? Without having to hire some overeducated expert who is almost as expensive as a damn cardiac surgeon. Even simple things; manufacturers are trying to prevent you from servicing yourself by threatening cancelled warranties and complicated computer programming that makes EVERY damn part of the car a 'high Tech' device needing 'trained experts'.
