I bought a Minolta XK-1 camera for $92. and repaired it in 5 minutes

I found this smokin' deal on this classic minolta X-1 on ebay. The only problem was that the camera did not work because the mirror was locked up. Some research on KZbin revealed this is an almost universal problem for this camera. All you need to do is learn the tricks to fix it! It took me about 5 minutes and this camera was running just like new.

Thank you for sharing your report. I appreciate your videos about the analog Minoltas very much, because I also take pictures with them more often. Unfortunately I still miss an X-1 in my assortment. But I have a lot of other SLRs from Minolta at my disposal. Starting with an SR-1 and SR-7 we continue with various SR-T models. Chronologically we continue with XE-1, XE-5, XD-7, XD-5 and XD-S. After that I collected different XG models and the X-300, X-500 and X-700. Most of the models still work today. Except for the well-known capacitor problem of the X-700. But the individual camera models also want to be used. It is not for nothing that they say: he who rests, rusts. Anyway, it's still a lot of fun to shoot with the analog MF devices. Later, the AF cameras from Minolta were added. Also a great pleasure to take photos with it. It's nice to see there are still Minolta users.

I'm on the same kick! I got an XG-S (XG-9), an XG-M and then an XK. First XK I got was truly locked up - I could not figure it out without disassembling it, so I sent it back. The second one I got was less expensive and just needed batteries to unlock it. I replaced the light seals and took it out to shoot and it was awesome. Good find! Love the Minolta cameras since my dad had them when they were new. Enjoy your cameras!

I was mad at minolta for decades for discontinuing all the manual focus line but recently my fondness for their cameras and lenses has returned. In my camera cabinet there is a shelf of Olympus, a shelf of Nikon and a shelf of lenses. But the place where all the excitement resides is the misc. shelf of Canon/minolta /Pentax!
