I know the Mariner 4 is a lot more expensive, but if you are going to put a motor on an inflatable, it's the absolute minimum you need. The hard floor helps, plus more stiff pvc pontoons.

The motor mount is the problem he should get the one with the longer arm top mount... The shorter top arm can't support the weight and thrust of the motor

i have drilled more holes to raise the 'transom' plate and set the tilt of the motor to max. I need to make further mods to distrivute the force of the motor to the back of the boat to make it flex less. im running a 1.3hp 4 stroke gx35 clone and a intex excursion 4. im getting 6km/h max now with 2 people and some gear. for my small-ish lake thats good enough. But i wish i had bought the 4hp gx50 clone. or a 2.2hp yamaha. But that would give even more flex. a mariner 4 is better for motor, but with some diy tinkering you can also get a small motor running without leaning to much on a excursion 4/5

@@RileySorensen …I live on an island in the pacific( rough waters) runnin a jet ski…something goes wrong w/out help paddles ain’t going to do you any good..screw the j/ski…put on the fins and save your butt…👍🏼lol
