I Bought A New Steam Locomotive!

As the title states, I purchased a new live steam locomotive in 7.5" gauge. A Winton 2-8-0 Propane fired Consolidation type locomotive.

That is a really cool engine. I wonder if the secondary decorative whistle is functional

Both whistles are functional. I didn't use the bigger whistle under the running board on video because the pipe after the whistle valve is cracked.

Nice steam engine any ideas about what a good start steam locomotive is I am new to the hobby I was told to get involved in a club or something probably a good idea

Nice engine, it kind of looks like an enlarged and beefed up version of your mogul, but that might just be me

Side by side, they're very similar in size, the boilers are almost exactly the same length, but the 2-8-0 has a longer frame. The Mogul was built oversized for what it is. The biggest difference is the mogul is much lighter with it's thinner copper boiler, and the connie is quite a bit heavier with a thicker steel boiler.

Given that the Consolidation weighs a good deal more than the mogul, it will have much better tractive effort and be able to pull more. The mogul steams well and has plenty of power, but it lacks in tractive effort.
