Yeah, I was thinking that thru the entire pallet unboxing! He paid double what he should have for the entire pallet! It’s all good for what he is planning to do with this one but if this was someone planning to resell, they would be bankrupt extremely quick trying to resell returns at full normal retail prices in hopes of squeezing out a $700 profit.

I got lucky when I was hunting around for an airbrush compressor because someone had returned one to Bunnings (equivalent of Home Depot here in Australia) without the airbrush or hose (specifically they took the airbrush cups, the needle from the airbrush of all things, and the hose) and knocked like $70 off the price when I really just needed the compressor. Gotta love working returns.

If there was anything one thing I learned when I ordered a Ryobi mower from Home Depot last year, it was that they're really in the business of selling batteries, not tools. The mower I got was the same price for both the boxes that did and didn't include a battery, and the battery sold separately wasn't much cheaper. That's probably why several of those were $100 dolars rather than a more reasonable price: I'll bet they used the same battery, and the cheaper products came with much smaller batteries that used a different connector/interface to attach to the tool.

I made friends with the tool dept mgr at Home Depot (another Viet Vet) - when they'd get a return that would be a fantastic buy, he'd call me just before went on sale. What isn't usually mentioned in these vids is that many of the higher quality ones are still under warranty. Got some very nice power tools that wouldn't start. Contacted repair service (when they had them) and got them fixed for free. Best was $400 Milwaukee set t($100 my price) that the sawsall would not turn on. Took it in. They opened it / found the power cord retaining screw was missing. Was before battery operated. I could have done it myself, but hay, under warranty.

i am a year late here but figure i will give my insight too since i buy pallets too. I rarely get to buy tool pallets and electronic pallets. they tend to get into bidding wars , you are taking a bigger risk on working condition and the shipping seems to put it too high. otherwise if you can snag a pallet at or around the opening price and they offer decent shipping or free pickup you can come out smelling like a rose on just selling a few items off the pallet. Oh, another category that is expensive to buy in is when they offer a good mixed grocery pallets, people have been going nuts over those too lately. i brought 3 pallets in the last couple of weeks and i got them for 90-92% off retail then add shipping i was still under 15% of retail. i was happy. i wouldn't mind buying a few tool pallets but they go for more than they are worth to me.

The RYOBI Tire Inflator (Model# P747) is the best $59.00 I have invested in. w/ a 4Ah 18V battery I was able to inflate all four tires on my car and still had 75% juice left on the battery. I cannot say anything about the new PCL031K1 because I have not bought one yet.

I have been doing this all year from a local auction website in MI. They list the individual items as auctions so getting good deals on items I need instead of entire pallets. Just be sure the check what the auction house charges on top of the bid, and figure in shipping or gas for pick up to get good deals way under retail. Got a dewalt 12" miter saw for $94, heavy duty stand for $110, husky tool cabinets around $100 instead of $500. Basically setting up my garage shop at discount. Deals to be found from returns!
