Go Giants, too! So, it took 25 minutes for the corn. Yes, it does seem long, but I doubt you could cook that much corn on the stove in 25 mins. Even if you could, you’d be standing close by at least, to watch the pot. You’d still have to wait for the water to boil, before the corn could be put in, unless you did it when you filled the pot with water. But, the time would take just as long, if not longer. Yes, the steam needs to be released, but in this case, I believe you were able to do a quick release, which is much faster. I didn’t hear any complaints about the knob moving to a different setting, because it’s too sensitive, as many have said. So, maybe that problem is overstated. Plus, when the weather heats up, no one wants to stand over a hot stove or turn on their oven, especially when the AC is running full blast. All in all, I think an IP will be a good investment. Please update as time goes by and show us some new recipes or tips and tricks, you’ve learned. Good video!

Thanks for the tutorial. I've been using an Aroma multi-purpose rice cooker x 10 yrs but rice cookers x 20 yr [before the instant pot craze] so it's like going from a Toyota Camry to an Infinity; both are quality products, but the IP has more built-in features that I wanted to try. I can use the tools and steamer baskets from my Aroma-- I'm keeping both for use. Actually, I bought the Ultra 60 just 2 days ago 4/16/18 (using it today 4/18/18) for the same price of $149.00 via Amazon. I signed up for a Prime Amazon store card and got a $60 gift card, which I applied to this purchase. You did nothing wrong, and you didn't miss out on a deal. I'm on Amazon like 2 days/week comparing and checking prices against Ebay, Walmart, Target, Kohl's and a general Google search -- you get the picture. This is the top model although there is an 8 qt oval shaped model that's 10 in 1 for the same price and available at Walmart. Walmart is out of stock on the Ultra 60 so its cost is relative to Supply & Demand principles.

In total, I paid $105 including the 3-yr service plan b/c I opened a Amazon Prime store card ($60 ) plus had an extra $6 gift card balance. I then returned the IP Lux 30 edition, 6Qt to Walmart for a total refund of $94.10 [includes $7 x 2 yr Asurion plan]. Amazon & Walmart had the same prices $79 Lux30, 6 qt & $149 Ultra 6 qt, but the svc plan was cheaper and longer on Amazon.

Maybe you figured it out, but especially for the steam menu it helps if you use hot tap water. And, yes broccoli can be done in 0 minutes (IP). I also cook broccoli in the microwave (in one Lekue silicone steamer). In 2-3 minutes it is ready. Honestly it's much quicker than with my IP.

I am glad that you got a pressure cooker, I want to see a lot of ideas from you. I've always loved my crock pot, but I haven't used it since I got the pressure cooker. One of my favorites is corn on the cob, like you did. I use the frozen kind, and put them in (still frozen) for ten minutes, it's great. Probably doesn't take that long, but they don't overcook. I'm looking forward to seeing your ideas and recipes! Maybe do a roast or something. I think it actually turns out better than in an oven or crockpot. Also, steaming hot dogs is easy, and they turn out great also.

Good for you, buying an Instant Pot! I have a Duo-60 that I adore for cooking dried beans and making soup stocks (mostly) I also do a killer BBQ chicken and a good Cabbage Soup (on the Slow Cooker setting). This takes a while to determine cooking times for various dishes and food, but I think it's well worth the cost. **By the way, if the price dropped that much while your IPot was on order, I'd call Amazon and try to haggle the cost down. They have done that for me on some Houseware/Cookware items, in the past. It might be worth a try**

I got the Ultra to replace my Duo. My main complaint with the old one was that I couldn't see the controls. (Plus it took several falls and bits were getting broken. Not its fault...) I wish i'd have bought the Ultra, but i 'just' purchased the new DUO 80, 1200 WATTS. It's very nice, but it's hard to figure out the cooking times, because the others are all 1000 watts. Wash your corn on the cobb, tender? Please let me know. I've always just used 1 cup of water. I was told if 10 minutes or less, use 1 cup, 11 minutes or more, use 2 cups of liquid?? Who knows, tho. GREAT VIDEO.

I have a different brand (Power Pressure Cooker XL, like seen on the infomercials), not many instructions there either. Trial and Error, but I really haven't had many errors. Those things cook so fast, it is hard to believe. I always add time, and they still don't overcook, as far as meat goes. Like Jim said, you can steam the brocolli too long, vegetables are a little trickier. But for meat, potatoes, carrots, you really can't go wrong.

You only need one cup of water to cook that corn. That will substantially cut down on the time the pot takes to come to pressure. I'm not sure why you made a video for this when you are a newbie with the appliance. Come back in a couple of months when you have actual experience.oh, broccoli is 1cup of water, put the broccoli on the trivet or in a strainer, cook 1 minute on high (crunchy broccoli peeps cook 0 minutes and release the pressure immediately).
@rcole6679
@rcole6679 6 жыл бұрын
Woah! Cool down! He was excited to show his new toy and yes, I do hope he comes back with some tips etc. I though the 3 cups was overkill too, but, the corn looked great. I’m not sure you’re right about the less time to cook with less water. IP customer service told me that the pressure will increase faster with more volume of food and liquid in the pot, because there is less empty space. The pressure will increase faster, which will speed up the cooking, though the time will vary depending on the food your cooking.
