Years ago, I had an '82 5 speed. Fifth gear was around .50 to 1. Fantastic mileage, but even at highway speeds, you couldn't pass without shifting down. I think that was 2 years only, '82-'83.

Wow1 Excellent condition. I had an 86.5 Coupe GT that was almost exactly the same. Mine was RED with a black, unpainted spoiler and 5 speed manual. It could squeek the tires from 1st to 2nd. The 5 cylinder had nice power and torque. It would cruise at 80-100 mph and you didn't know it. The digital dash is very very rare. That was told to me by the service dept at an Audi dealer. A few other items for those looking at a GT - be careful about the exhaust replacement. Unknowing shops sometimes put on an exhaust meant for a 4000 since the GT used a 4000 platform but 4000s had a 4 cylinder engine. If they get it wrong the engine won't breath correctly, will build up back pressure and can cause leaks at the exhaust manifold, which is not a fun repair. Power antenna are finnicky. I had one in the 86 and when I tried to order a replacement mast and unit the dealer told me it did not go on an 86. It must have been a mid year upgrade. Check for power locks. There is no button, just push down the knob and the other door locked. It was an excellent car. Unique. Fun to drive. I put over 100K miles on it after buying it used. It helped to have a good shop that specialized in European cars and knew what they were doing. There are times I miss it and want to look for another.

Great car. I had two back in the eighties in the UK. My father had one too, his was an early one with twin headlights, his business later had the Audi Avant. We also had a Audi 100 gl5e.

Had the 2.3 new in 87. Leather, 5 speed, white wheels. Brilliant car. Have you figured out how to open the trunk. That is always fun to ask someone to try and figure out. It was pretty quick for its day. Put 220k miles on it and sold it to someone who wanted to race it in SCCA. The sound the in-line 5 makes at redline is fantastic and unique.

Luckily the previous owner showed me how to open the trunk! Haha. Definitely a fun car, so unexpectedly lightweight

It actually drives really nicely. Makes the car feel a bit slower I’m sure but it’s very smooth and actually quick to shift. Only 3 gears to go through so I’m sure that helps 😂

@@VSPEEDGarage ah I see. Not saying they're highly common over here either... I don't recall what is available in the 4x108, but Ronal R8s or the B3 Speedlines wouldnt be wrong. If sourcing some non-OE, I'd focus on a 5 spokes design due the "small" wheel sizes doesn't do multi spokes justice. So the Recaros would end up with too massive centers. Google should anyhow provide a lot of good examples. PS! A camshaft would help on the 10V drive ability too. ;) germancarsforsaleblog.com/1986-audi-coupe-gt-20v/
@tofu04211 ай бұрын
they are even kinda rare in germany. the quattro version is even rarer then the ur-quattro, because audi only built around 5-6000 and most of them were slaughtered to built sportquattro replicas.
