Sabian does make cup chimes! They're just stupidly expensive because they're grouped under the Terry Bozio Radia lineup. They sell 7/8/9 Radia Cup Chimes...I have the 7" and it's the equivalent to the Zildjian Matt Griener blast bell :)

Sabian definitely makes (made?) other cup chimes. There was a whole bunch of them in the Terry Bozzio Radia series of cymbals.

Both the 3-cymbal stack and the Saluda china were my favorites, hands down. The stack worked well and probably worked even better with just two of them (the two chinas, that is). Smaller chinas (8” and 10” especially) work better as stack cymbals, anyways. The Saluda china sounded WAY better than I thought it was going to. It’s just the right amount of sustain, wash, and exotic flavor. Hell, I’d buy that from you if & when you were to ever sell it.

I have a Paiste 21" Ride Prototype that I love, it sounds great and I found it at guitar center in great condition for like 180. Only thing is I wish the bell was a little bigger but its not too bad.

I liked the cup chimes. I think they had a great sound when played together. I also like the extra large hi-hats and the riveted hi-hat. That thing had fantastic sizzle.

2:48 DUDE ZBT splashes make the perfect stacks. I have two stacks, one with expensive cymbals and one with cheap ones, and the cheap stack with the ZBT sound sooo good.

I own a Sabian AAX 17" Mega Bell Ride I got in 2017. Brilliant finish with a massive raw bell, and about 20 or so holes drilled around the bell. I was looking for something that sounded like Mario Duplantier's ride. It was cheaper than the Zildjian equivalent and looked way cooler lol

If you ask me, Sabian is the king of 16" hats, whether they're prototypes or crash hats that you make yourself. I use two 16" HH Medium thin crashes as hats. Oh, man...

I think that Sabian lamp shade thing is probably a Carmine Appice custom model (ddrum makes it now). The flat edge on the ride might be a sound control protoype of some sorts.

Random thought, but what if you customized a bassdrum head to have something like a doggy door likely best done by cutting the head and using a velcro adjustment system. I'm wondering if you get the intial resonated thud but with a really fast decay. Use a velcro locking mechanism that allows you to keep the "door" closed to have a traditional sounding kick. Not sure if this is been done before but if not please try it!

I don't know how I discovered this channel since I'm not a drummer, but I'm glad I did. Even though I can't appreciate this stuff like actual drummers do, I'm learning quite a bit. This is a great channel and you're a very talented drummer (and apparently, based on other videos I've seen, very skilled in metalwork and woodwork. Is there any part of a drum you can't build? Lol).

I have a prototype Zildjian flat ride, one of only 3 in existence. I have one, my old drum teacher has one, and the other one Zildjian has. It doesn't sound all that good as a ride but as a crash type thing it sounds really unique

Sabian made a cup chime with the Terry Bozzio Radia line, as well as making one out of a silver metal, i think it may be aluminum. I picked one up at a Sabian Vault show a few years back. Very interesting.

Are you talking about the Alu Bells? They have a very soft and pretty sound and are actually tuned to notes. I have a 9" which is A and. 7" which is D. Beautiful instruments and very lightweight.

@@Dan-hc1ow It seems so- but this one was in a prototype group so I am not sure where it fell in relation to production or its tuning. You are right, it sounds beautiful. I never played it relative to any other music, only as an accent piece. I treasure it not only for what it is, but that it serves as a memory for the day I bought. The show was outside, the weather was spectacular and the Sabian staff were very personable. That music store location closed a few years later and every time I drive by that area it is just sad. Ding the bell for better days.

the best crash cymbal I ever heard, let alone owned, was an 18" Sabian, simply marked "18 in. Rock Crash" with a giant AA stamp on it. I emailed Sabian pictures of the cymbal, and they were like "That's a prototype, but idk which year." Well too bad for them, bc that crash was perfect and I want that cymbal back, but now I'll never see it again. I want that crash back. Sad face.

The Bosphorus sounded like a long China and imo It sounded more like a China than all the other inverts. I can think of a time or twelve that I'd have mashed that. My stack favorite was the first combo. I'm thinking in terms of filling a 3 piece out, though. But I do like a little slop 🐖. Absolutely love the bell set. Love it.

4:38 I have a cymbal like that it used to be a 16 inch Agazarian crash cymbal until the cymbal cracked then I had a A guy Named Timothy Roberts Cymbals he lathe and modify the cymbal and he cut it into the shape of a bell hes partnered with reverie drums and stack ring percussion. The modified cymbal makes a good cymbal stack sir

Hey did you ever see the Sabian AA 18" Sick Hats? They were a prototype and Sabian put them in full production after years of people contacting them to get a pair. I know there were only 100 prototypes made originally and I had 1 and lost it in a house fire, so 99 left that know of. But you can get them now pretty much anywhere. I use them exclusively as my main hats.

lts cool that the beats you play, really complement on what the cymbals are designed made for. l have a 1983 Pastie Rude 22" ride/crash, known as the Cancel everything cymbal, now with a inch long crack headed for the bell is referred as Napalm doom with a hint of trash coming on.

4:48 Or perhaps they sliced down some of their larger splash cymbals to make these 6s. I don't know why they'd do this, but a stamp centered on a cymbals edge is a bit weird and hard to explain otherwise.
