Axolotls like to hide under things, they do not like light so they hide from it. You should probably add more things for the axolotl.

After a lot of trial and error and testing. I found my guy loves hanging in bushy soft fake greenery.. I made a corner dedicated to the greenery and he is always in there somewhere. I put pvc pipe corners in for him to hide in and play etc. He perfers the big bushy hide out. It's fake greenery because other wise they just eat it.

Make sure his tank is cycled properly, you should also get hides and decor. Axoltls dislike light and can get stressed easily so make sure he has places to hide and a filter that has been cycled properly. Be sure his water temp stays cooler ( you can find good care guides online saying specific temps I just can’t remember at the moment ) axolotls can be hard to care for so be ready to take on this challenge, I hope this advice helps.❤

I'm ready for toothless not to live in a bare tank. Poor guy. There's no furniture in his apartment. I've been keeping axolotls for several years and I've come to find that the secret of keeping them with plants is fairly simple. I plant the plants in glass vases from goodwill. That way when they need any type of care they van be removed. Also keeps the axolotls from uprooting the plants so long as the rim of the vase is well above the surface of the sand. Good luck. Btw toothless is gorgeous 😍
