18ft is a good size for a ring. Never go any smaller than 16ft though. I once filmed a show where I think that the ring was about 14ft. As a result, any wrestler over 6ft tall would be able to run the ropes with about 2 steps. I think the WWE used to use 20ft rings for the most part, not sure about now. One of the companies that I filmed a lot had a 20ft ring which was cool. They'd lent out the canvas for a show that featured Ric Flair and last I heard, there was still some of his blood on that canvas.

Out of curiosity, why not get a low set ring if you had issues with roof beams? That looks like a wrestlerings uk ring, i would check every bit of metal work. Wing Commander Nash has a lovely scar on his knee from simply sliding out of one of them rings. Unit looks nice!
