The wavy "mustache curler", is a hair crimper. Women liked wavy hair back in the day. And the ivory colored box in the beginning that had blue velvt inside was either a watch or bracelet case from the jeweler. Hope this helps. :-)

Many more different things today, I knew Ashley would love the Garfield glassware lol. Once I saw Zoro I forgot what I had really liked, he really loves to be with family members bless him. When my dogs or cats were poorly they were the same, they need the comfort of their loved ones presence. There were some unusual things like the moustache curlers that made me chuckle, when Ashley said what they were it made sense but what a surprise lol. I did like gthe music boxes oh and I love the cookie jar, I have a few I collected but space is at a premium in our cottage and the loft is full oops. Take care and stay safe please my friends God bless you all love and hugs and please say hello to Grandma Ventures for me Mary-Ellen UK

Hi, I think Ashley is correct about the mirror , it's not a bathroom mirror it's a car mirror and I think it made of brass metal, the small white cups with the handles and the saucers are for Turkish coffee we call that but we Arabic people drink coffee in it several times a day

@moonshayde2 жыл бұрын
at 31.40 they are hair crimpers and like the moustache curlers you had to heat the 'curling irons' in the fire to get them hot enough to crimp or curl your hair or moustache!! There was a lot of scorched hair when they used those back in the day! The 'ivory' sets are more likely to be bone & they're manicure sets.. the pearl handles set also has a lace hook for tightening your shoelaces.

Hi, loved this video. Love how calm Ashley always seems. The voice of reason, the calm in the storm. I’m the same. Will you be listing the ceramic tree or the wire wreath with the ceramic birds? I’m a sucker for vintage Christmas decor.

34:40: looks like a very classy letter opener. The handle (depending on how it feels, I can only talk about the colour) might be either abalone shell or semi-precious stone, have it checked out! 36:00: That hook might well be a buttonhook, to pull buttons through their small holes on shoes and boots (think Mary Poppins' shoes). Best wishes for Zorro's health!

Wade you and grandma at your house before Christmas. Those old irons with the heavy weight would make a great weapon for women to have handy by a door or in the front seat of their car when they go out shopping and someone tries to rob then or carjacking them taking them along for the ride . No permit needed for an iron.

@cindywise33072 жыл бұрын
I believe they are probably Ivory since they were made and used before the ban on Ivory use. Do have them checked out since that would increase the value. Bakelite was not made until much later.

The ceramic tree is missing the star on top. I have one that I painted myself back in the late 1970's-maybe 1980. Mine has a different base, it is all toys and presents piled up around the bottom of the tree. You can get any missing bulbs and possibly the star for the top from any ceramic shop perhaps. I tried to copy & paste a picture of mine, but KZbin apparently doesn't allow that to work.
@darlenewilson98512 жыл бұрын
At 32: 00 - that is NOT for crimping a pie crust but would work in a pinch, I guess. It's a tracing tool used by seamstresses to mark a hem or seam. Think of carbon copies... the fabric cutter would place a sheet of inked paper between the pattern and the fabric. The tiny tool rolled across the length of the section, leaving a chalky imprint that remained after basting pins were removed.
