I am sorry to learn you receive nasty comments from people about storage unit sales. I’d be happy to pass along the names of middle aged sons who lie awake at night fretting over what they’ll have to clear once their parents die. I’ve had a list of estate dealers on my refrigerator for years. Since I took on a booth in antique shop last year, my son no longer shudders when he walks through my door. Last summer I had to move the inventory- formerly known as treasure- into storage to do repairs in the garage. It was 106 degrees here in Texas. I gave serious thought to leaving it all there. I asked the manager how often people defaulted. She said it was usually children who just don’t want any of it and have no room for it. If it were my stuff abandoned, I would want someone like you to come along so that at least one more person recognized what amazing things I’ve found. And to all of those people who think making others unhappy will bring joy into their own lives, you’re sadly wrong. What you should be doing is befriend some older women so you can drink tea and learn china patterns. There are lots of us and we’re all looking for someone to inherit this stuff. Many thanks for bringing joy into my life.

Your story is exactly what I was referencing. Many storage unit buyers are made to "feel bad" about bidding & buying abandoned storage units, but the reason why a unit goes up for sale isn't always a "worst case scenario". Sometimes it is exactly what you said - no one in a family wants the stuff, wants to deal with it, and so up for auction it goes.
@puppy2haley8 ай бұрын
Exactly right. my daughter and her family and my sister have taken everything in my storage unit because I gave him free reins on what items were up for grabs. most of my jewelry went to my daughter. I’ve got a collection of oil paintings, Lithographs, prints, jewelry, chinaset, etc. I even have some Ethan Allen Pinewood furniture I purchased a 1974 sitting in my unit and it’s been there for 19 yrs. I’m slowly selling on eBay (eBay is more of a hobby for me on these larger items and gives me something to do on cold days.) anyway this generation wants to get their own stuff they don’t want much of any any of the vintage antique items. 🥹🥹🥹

You are so kind to worry about these haters. I'd tell them to go pound sand. My Dad was a decorated WW II vet and he used to say, "Those that talk the most have usually done the least." I bet none of these naysayers quit their jobs to pick full time but are simply self appointed "experts." You are too sweet to them. Regarding the desert camo, most of the services no longer use those so you have decommissioned uniforms that can be sold without compunction. As usual, amazing variety of fun stuff and priceless commentary. :)

Awesome vid with a lot of "History behind the Totes", highly appreciated. Sleepy Hollow is a great movie with a lot of historic background. Interesting to know that this guy took part in the "Iraqi Freedom" campaign. Concerning military souvenirs, you are absolutely right that GI´s sent tons of WW II stuff home like guns (the famous "Luger") or even Japanese mortar shells (your special find a couple of months ago 😄). Anyways, a great result of your actual storage locker purchase: a stunning assortment of liqors, complete uniforms, Play Station games, DVD´s, CD´s etc. which will generate a decent amount of $$$. Keep it up, and have a very relaxing Sunday afternoon (stormy weather over here) ! Greets from GER, U.

I know one thing my cousin did send a lot of home... sand! Crazy how some packages that he sent from Iraq ended up with sand in every crevice of whatever was in the box. Even letters had their share of some sand! How things changed from the different wars & what one could bring home. I'm not familiar with Play Station at all... Never have played on one! I got sucked into the Nintendo Switch craze when Animal Crossing was popular. Such a cute game, but I haven't logged on in some time. I need to though, so I can tell my "islanders" hello and make sure they are still on my island! Cold day here in the states, with a bit warmer temps coming in but with that brings rain. Perhaps better than snow, though!

Freezing temperatures, good music, some research, and happy glass. Sounds like a terrific way to spend a Sunday afternoon! The possibilities of what happened to the owner are endless. If he (Dwayne, right?) somehow saw this and wanted his things, we all know you would make sure he got them. Barring that, saving them from the dump is environmentally friendly, as is buying & selling used items. You make a little money, others save a little money. It's a win all the way around - especially for us who enjoy your videos. BTW I've never trusted movies bought on streaming services so have everything on DVD. Not to mention a huge CD collection. Didn't realize I was so far behind that I was ahead!. Have a great Sunday!

A few of the movies that my cousin showed us were pretty funny as you could hear people chatting in the background or see the heads of people in the movie theater. Buying & watching the bootleg movies was one of the main sources of things to do on their down-time or just to "escape" for a little from what was going on. Also makes for a good memory from the time spent overseas. Still hoping for that antique/vintage storage unit with all the things that I love... we shall see if that ever comes around and if I can be the winning bidder! Hope that you had a nice weekend!

People are finding out that Purchasing products that is streamed to your device can easily be canceled and stopped by the companies that sell them. As soon as the company decides they don’t want to pay for the rights to sell, you lose your purchase. No refund. It’s happening with video games and I’ve heard it’s going to happen with films too. Keeping hard copies of games and films is still an excellent idea. That’s why video and DVD players are starting to sell. PLEASE don’t listen to the haters…people sitting in their basement,doing nothing but spreading ugly, are not worth listening too. Keep on finding new homes for what would be tossed in the trash without you.
