I bought an Aliexpress Chibson greeny

I bought a Chibson Greeny from Alixepress. Here's my reaction to that and some sound examples.

I brought a chibson custom. Not on purpose. Still the best playing, sounding guitar that I have. It inspires me to play/practice. Best money that I have spent, my other guitars: Fenders, gibsons, Ibanez simply just collect dust. I have played many LPs from fellow players, shops, and venders. None comes close to the sound get out of the fake. I not sure what is the reason as to why it sounds so good but whoever made my guitar did an amazing job.

I love how every video that comes out with chibsons compares the back screws and the fact the pickup nibs aren't covered and well maybe the tuners aren't grovers either lol I paid $300 but it's not a $6000 guitar wtf. spend another $100 on pickups and a bridge if you feel you have to, now you have a great sounding guitar that plays pretty damn well, Or go spend $6000 and find out you just wasted $5600 on a piece of wood with strings. I plan on buying every chibson I can only changing the pick ups and blowing people away with my $300 chibby.

Peter Green didn't just turn around the neck pickup the guy who worked on it said he flip the magnet inside the humbucker around.

There must be more to it than just doing that, I tried it and all it done was half the volume in the middle position.

The neck pickup was also rewound with strat pickup wire instead of the thinner les paul wire

Early Strats used 41 gauge which is actually thinner than the Gibson humbuckers@@bigbasil1908

Reading the comments it's funny how some people slag chibsons off, is it because they are made in China? Well other guitars that are made in China are Fender, Epiphone, Guild, Yamaha, Eastman, Alvarez, Washburn and Ovation! So if all these companies have their product made in China, surely Chinese guitars can't be that bad right?

It still amazes me hearing theses guys attempting to show how these chibsons are total POS's. All I ever see in 99% of the cases is..."the pickups are crap"..."the tuners aren't any good"..."the wiring is bad"...etc. These are all very minor issues, easily corrected. What I mostly don't here are things like..."the neck is twisted"..."the neck fit is not properly aligned"...or "this thing is made of plywood". So far the ones I've purchased are all in all fine instruments....and in many cases (superior) to the Gibson counterparts.

I got a 59 and a Snakehead Tele. Both have bad electronics and hardware, which I fully expected. Otherwise it is better than any Les Paul copy I ever owned in my 60+ years. 200 bucks later I have a nice sounding easy playing banger that Gibson USA made more money off of than the builder. These things are making millions for the 'victim' companies.

I can't believe Gibson has a Chinese factory now! Nah just kidding I think Gibson really doesn't care about these guitars and here's why "go ahead buy that junk cause soon or a later you're going to want the real thing" and you'll buy a Gibson it's nothing more than free advertisement!

Gibson care alright! The amount of guitars that get seized at the customs in the USA and UK is considerable. This is done at the instructions of Gibson. As for Chibsons being junk, these days they are turn out some excellent models that have attention to detail that is so good only an expert would know the difference. There are not only Gibson replicas but Fender, Martin, Epiphone and Rickenbacker.

@@colinmcnab6145 Since they are illegal to sell it seems to me that in a majority of cases Chibsons are bought by players who know what they are.....I understand that there are the absolute horror stories of buyers who are getting ripped off, but in most cases Chibsons are a novelty!

On this $360 copy: 1. the neck needed sanding 2. the pickups were wrong 3. the body binding was coming off 4. the screws on the back plates were problematic 5. need to change the bridge and pickups

The bare wood on the back looks more Alder than Mahogany. It doesn't have the redish hue of Mahogany.

How was the fretwork? rough at the edges? How would you compare it to the Gibsons you have in the background? Thanks, interesting post. I just looked at another video where the guy said he wouldn't trade it EVEN for a real Gibson reissue. I'm glad he's happy, but man, I just have a Gibson studio I got used for less than $700, didn't have to do any work on it and it is a great guitar, so, there is that. Thanks for the post and the alternate view. It sounds good!

The edges are actually quite nice and rounded.. I'll do a video where I can compare it to my Gibson Tribute :) I also have a Gibson custom R8, but I don't think that's a fair comparison. And thanks for the comment :)

Flipping the pickup makes no difference, It's the magnet inside the neck pickup that needs to be rotated. Regardless , it sounded fine. Big plus with a guitar like this is you can take it to a gig and not worry about getting it dinged ....whereas taking an expensive Gibson is too much anxiety. I know, I've done it!

1:31 Where you say they need to me turned around ? Unless I don’t understand what you mean the picks up are correct the screws at the top pickup and the bottom pickup the screws at the bottom !

It was because.. it was supposed to be a Greeny model.. :) .. so that's why the pickups are not correct installed :)

There is no value in Chibsons either cos no legal resale. You would have been better off spending your money on a secondhand Epiphone Inspired by Gibson LP they are great guitars, sound better and are coming on the 2nd hand market now for around the same price you paid for that fake ass Gibson. That slip of the tongue made me laugh, its not even a real Gibson, I think you meant its not even an accurate Gibson, but I will give you latitude as English isn't your first language.

I think it's a wonderful instrument and he's allowed to sell that as a real Gibson guitar and make him a nice profit from a person who doesn't know about guitars.

I paid AUD 1,000 for a 2nd hand Chibson LP custom Peter Frampton which is was more than double the original price they would have paid. I then added 2 x gibson p/ups (neck and bridge, left middle orig ) and new locking tuners. So with this plus a set up say in total AUD 2,000. I have 2 Gibson LP's and this runs rings around them so I am more than happy. My well respected guitar tech who did all this work said this LP was in the top 6 for playability he has had in his workshop. The cheapest in Australia I can find for the Gibson custom shop Phenix LP is AUD 11,799 !
