My X mother in-law lived in Clunes for over 30 years , Now I need to wash my eyes , ha ha , I love Atkinson's I worked there , Drove some to I had a King cab Atkinson with a 400 Cummins , but My first love was a S2 , love your work Mate

@@dieseldownunder. , i used to be in demolition and worksafe could turn up even when you were in a very isolated place and not doing anything wrong. the boss put such things down to spiteful people who missed out on the job.

OOF ! That Atkinson was rough ride and a half Jake ! I drove a leaf sprung MAN 8X8 years ago and that thing was sort of comfortable only when it had about 28 Tonnes on it ! Nice to see your content again matey ! Cheers, Ard

Hi Jake great to see a new post! It’s too bad some folks have nothing better to do than complain to people about something that really isn’t their business. Sometimes in doing a big job like that things get sketchy it’s the nature of the beast. Can’t wait to see some updates on some of this equipment if it’s good enough to save and what not. All good mate there’s always someone, at the end of the day I did 8 weeks straight with no accidents or injury’s,(except a jammed finger). If I did everything by the book a job like this would never get finished! Cheers

In the Atkinson are the Gauges VDO or Smiths if they are Smiths then this truck was Build-ed by Atkinson if they are VDO it was build-ed by International/Harvester , I was working their when Elvis died 1977 I think ( I was customizing new Trucks ,)

Mate, Big project. I looked hard and couldn’t see why any one would have reported you to WHS, I think it was the lack of a shiny new high vis shirt, gloves on nor clamped to your belt as a safety fashion accessory, eye or hearing protection. Every thing else looked fine. In all seriousness a couple of good comments from the Craney’s who took the time to give you sound advice (albeit easier said than done in the heat of battle) vs the F@%ckwits that just went straight to Dan Andrews mode. Good to see you having a red hot go and well done. Thanks for taking the time to share 👍PS next time get a couple of the snakes in the vid for our American friends they just love them, or maybe that was another breach with Parks and Wildlife, munted ones upset them no end 😂

Hahaha thanks mate I like having a crack if I worried about every little danger we wouldn’t get anything done, but that’s why it was only the 3 of us on the job we all know where to stay out of trouble (most of the time) and yes I wouldn’t make a crane driver so I do take the advice from actual craneys on board I try to stay away from the snakes they are more dangerous than the crane I reckon😂 I reckon I’d have people looking for me if I damaged any of the snakes haha Cheers mate

Hey Matty! Yes a real shame, even worse I found a couple of boring heads like you’re building at the moment, but they were in a shipping container that had a rust hole in the roof and condensation have rusted them and everything else really badly!😢

I’m not sure if this engine will ever run again as it’s been open to the elements for 15+ years but I have a 6v92 I could drop in to get it running so it wouldn’t be a huge deal to get it driving again I don’t think

I can give you all the excuses of why but it happened. I’d understand if I had workers all around but I’m the one on the ground and the only one at risk which I was well clear of it most of the time anyway. If it was full I wouldn’t have done it like that but it would be 4-5T at best, maybe Worksafe can use it as a tutorial of what not to do👍🏻😂

The ramps Definitly come in handy when loading machines I must admit, very different to trailers in the USA but I do like American trailers they have their place!

Fck me. I’m a cranie and watching you lift that container was painful. From the angle of the chains, to two blocking the winch, you fellas don’t realise how close you came to having a real bad day. Front walking beam on twin steers were common on big off-road stuff like drill rigs and big cranes years and construction machines like,concrete mixers in America. Although I haven’t seen it on any road trucks in Australia.Good chance the Atkinson was originally single steer with a backyard conversion.

Twin steer co Atkinson's, Road Commanders,KW140 Series among various others were very common here in Australia!

I understand if cranes are your job it’s pretty sketchy, but like I said a couple of times now I used it every day for 8 weeks and there was some questionable lifts and rigging setups but no mishaps or accidents, the container was one of the worst as we didn’t have long enough chains and one of the stabiliser legs has a blown hose. There is no employees so at the end of the day it’s only putting myself in danger. But I do agree with you that I could learn more about the setups and do’s and dont’s. Cheers

@@dieseldownunder. the first thing you must learn is how to read the load chart. Is there one in the cab? With that container lift, apart from the chains being to short, you would have been a lot better of extending the boom a lot more and having the boom at a greater angle. You were close enough you could have had the boom up to about 60 degrees and it would have a lot more capacity. Also it is not advised to telescope the boom in and out under load. And watch the hook doesn’t hit the underside of the boom when winching up. It doesn’t take a lot to either bend the boom backwards or snap the winch rope. Hit me up if you want a few tips, but that load chart is important. If you haven’t got one, I van probably find one for you.

usally what happens sad private yards getting hard and harder hide stuff to many nosey people now days want sale this want sale that gets old plus lot us just want work on are junk in peace skills and abilitys say this that man had a eye detail now days people like it all shine well it was when new just dont see the what could or should be my guess but i do know few tracks are good inovation newer models point is reason is usally cheaper now always to make it build it then buy it right so lot ranches or outpost had get haul gold days old diamond oil etc after 1945-1975 ww2-nam you had men not boys men doing work for reason lot stuff not safety but did the job nothing like water well or hut nice bit grass and trees had find ways make it happen
