This! Especially since most shipping companies and big online retailers are focused on speed over handling care now a days. Given that a lot of people order online these days, and companies keep pushing for selling more products, this is the result: cutting costs on packaging and more likely-hood of damage to it.

Often the product never makes it to the customer because the packaging gets crushed , torn, damaged in some fashion while in transit. In this case, the delivery drivers use discretion and return the items. In the US it is common for a shipment to be delayed by a couple of days when this happens. The glitter dots seem to be a disaster in the making so start with those 😄

​@@DoodleDate at least in the US you can get Amazon warehouse deals on most products. It is always worth looking at the other sellers list and reading the description. I got a pressure cooker "like new with damaged packaging" and then it had a big dent on the side. I did a chat with them and they offered me an additional 20% off and since it was on the back and didn't affect the functionality I accepted! Also, I have seen stores that buy random pallets of Amazon returns (I assume very cheaply) and then resell what they can. Things will be missing parts or just broken etc.

I work in an amazon warehouse in the US and most of the time these damaged packages are ran over by the robots or damaged in shipping 🤖 also as a packer, shame on that first package! I never send it in plastic lol

Yeah this! The way amazon operates is to just ship out stuff at maximum speed & ignore damages that can occur, because it's still more profitable. Boxes especially take the brunt of rough handling and shipping.

Oh I had the color wonder stuff as a toddler! That line has been available in the US for at least 15 years. From what I remember the markers worked, but the ink would fade off the paper after like 6 months, even if it was stored in the dark. I wonder why Crayola doesn't sell it in the UK.

I work in shipping and we see so many boxes that look like these or worse! Travel is very hard on boxes. 😅 I always just hope the things inside are still in good condition as they go on to the customers.

Omg I forgot about the crayola glitter dots those do suck lol. I picked a smaller package for a few bucks many years ago and they DO NOT stick onto paper if a remember correctly and have a play doh like texture. Amazon Warehouse is often just damaged packages, not just returns. They're pretty great if they actually mark down the prices. In the US it's often only marked down a few cents or a dollar or two.

Amazon warehouse employee here I believe we also have something called Amazon Warehouse deals or something like that. I could be wrong. Those are items that are damaged in the warehouse that are marked down for lower price. And the only way I know that is because I work in damage land where we separate the bad damages from the good damages and from the inventory items that were wrongly sent to us Damaged land employees are supposed to be the ones to repackage and to make sure it's pretty enough to be received We don't always do that If you've ever received an item that has an LPN at the front of it, those are Second Chances if those items are returned to us again, they're sent to us to be destroyed

I usually open things to make sure the inside is fine before considering a return because if it's like my area the mailman will literally punch boxes into my mailbox to make them fit LMAO (I have had a hard time pulling some of them out because of it too lol.)
