In this video i look over all the best PS5 Faceplates and Matte black PS5 plates on the market, take you through the dbrand darkplates unboxing, the CMP shells unboxing, and the PS5 knockoff faceplates. These are all 3rd party PS5 shells. I give you a first impressions, then show you why there's no Dbrand PS5 Skin. I also go over other customization options you can put on your PS5! Like the Classic PS logo on your PS5.
The custom PS5 game is still relatively new, and I want to be able to show you the best PS5 mods available right now. CMP Shells ($50) was known for being the first, also known as the Platestation 5 (But had to rebrand for obvious reasons). The second was the Dbrand darkplates ($65) which is the best PS5 shells on the market right now. There's no Dbrand PS5 skins, as they didn't believe it would work for their customers. Lastly, the Chinese knock off PS5 shells ($28) are the worst of the bunch. One came damaged, and the other didn't arrive at all, unfortunately.

Now they attacked innocent people that were still using the PS Store on the platform itself and the PS3. They completely removed the PS Store purchase ability... They even sent us emails, as for the excuse/purpose they used; "We are making these changes to shift our focus to PlayStation Store for PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5 and further improve our players' experience on these platforms." in that exact mail. It’s weird the lack of official customizable parts for the ps5 given how easy it is to do so. You can change the logo, the light color, and the faceplates with ease. I personally got the darkplates with the triple black middle skin and it’s amazing. And purple lights

I pre-ordered my plates from DBrand two months ago. They came in yesterday and I really love them. They feel and look as good as the Sony plates but are totally black. I also purchased the matte finish skin for the central area of the PS5 and it completely solves the "fingerprint magnet" issue. Totally love that I was able to get my plates from DBrand.

For the blue ones, you should be able to get rid of the white stress marks by heating them up with a heat gun or something. If they're too deformed idk if they'll fit but there's a chance you could bend them back into shape too once they're warmed up

So I have a cmp plate that I ordered in January first wave and received in first week of March as promised . It was easy to put on, and everything looks good . So I came across this comment and realized the box is the same . So I peeled off the sticker .... boom ... there’s the faceplate logo like what is shown on the “knock off” .... Wow . yep. 1:04 and 4:24 look at the sticker on the box bottom right corner. saw it right away. and this guy said the quality between the two was so different 🤦‍♂️ only the shipping was the problem with the aliexpress ones. The fact that they didn't show up has nothing to do with the product, they are always good with refunds.

I have the dbrand 2.0 plates. I love them as I like the whole black look as I also picked the matt black sticker and I like how it follows the curve of the console. Plus having those fan vents on the side is an extra plus which actually helps the console

Copyright is the reason for the missing logo on custom plates. That’s why Dbrand does a custom “mesh” of robots and stuff on their plates to mimic the mesh of the OEM plates that have the buttons found on ps controller for their plate mesh without violating copyright

A few new folks have appeared since this was first done, but it seems that not much has changed, surprisingly... Dbrand is doing 4 wave ships as of this month, CMP has stuff on hand, but a major stipulation: ALL SALES ARE FINAL!, and the "cheap" ones are still just as cheap in form. Preferences lean towards blue or green color-wise, but for black, I'll pay the $65 for Dbrand, which isn't bad for that, the vinal midsection, and $5 for shipping.

CMP and "Faceplate" knockoffs have the exact same box, CMP just put a stick on top of theirs. My guess is they bought in bulk, inspected and sold 1000 that weren't damaged for a higher price tag.

I bought a set of Matte Black generic Chinese Plates from Amazon UK for like £30 same day delivery. They could obviously be better but I don't play my console with it next to my face, it sits under our TV above the Black 5.1 receiver, all I need it to do is look good from afar and not stick out like a sore thumb. I can handle the slightly unfinished edges and it fits perfectly. Got exactly what I paid for. 4/5 for what it is.

Just finally got my PS5 and was fully expecting to immediately get black plates and the all black controller and then I had a change of heart once I opened the box and pulled the console out. Turns out I quite like the white plates and controller. Maybe in a year or so I'll change it up though. Appreciate the video and the effort!

The sticker on the bottom right indicates the first and last plates came from the same factory but they just slapped a CMP sticker on the box

I've bought the black plates from Aliexpress. They're identical to the CMP plates. The blue makes it look cheap and you were just unlucky that it was damaged during shipping.

The little symbols etched on the inside of the Dbrand plate should be in the exact location as the the factory one. It’s where your supposed line up the stand. That attention to detail.

I am fairly sure that CMP and Chinese plates are basically the same thing. I did order both and my guess is they just order these in bulk and repackage them. Probably keeping the ones that looks decent, and they sell the rest on like ebay.

The damage on the Ali Express plates isn't from shipping. Those are push pin marks from the plates sticking in the mold as they're being ejected from the mold.
