Flying home from a friend’s wedding, my bag was “lost” in St Luis during a change over. I say “lost” because after a week my bag did make it back to me- with all of my belongings picked through and many pieces of my jewelry missing. I ALWAYS pack valuable (read “I don’t want to loose it) items with me in my carry on, but I had been in a rush and super tired after the wedding that I forgot that one time. Never again. They stole the jewelry set she gave me for being her maid of honor, my Pandora bracelet, and a ton of my other costume jewelry 😭 The airline said it must have “fallen out in transit.” Yes, it fell out of the gift box, out of the bag INSIDE my suitcase THEN fallen out of my completely zipped suitcase. No reimbursement since my Bag was technically returned. I was 💯 SOL. I’m still mad when I think about it 😤 Fell out indeed. Super fun video though! I never knew a place like this existed for truly lost luggage! So cool! 😄

As someone who works for my city's police department and arranges abandoned property auctions (no, seriously, I'm that lady), I can tell you that a large number of the items from these auctions come from the inside of cars that were impounded, processed, and never claimed from the police impound lot. After 60 days, this stuff becomes the property of the police department and we hold an auction once or twice per year to sell off all of these things, even the cars they came in (if the car is worth more than $750, otherwise it goes to the junkyard). We get some of the craziest stuff that's never picked up, including weapons and laptops. Just thought you might like to know! Great video!

I love the idea of donated wedding dresses being sold for proceeds to help other women! We have a community closet here in my rural area, where anyone can get clothes. There are no set prices, people can just pay what they can afford even if it's 0. Unfortunately, the community closet is going to the referral system now because too many dishonest people have shopped there. Some being so trifling that they've taken nice items free and resold on FB! 🤬 So now, the only people that can shop there are ones referred by government agencies. That really bites because the people that REALLY need things are the working poor who make "too much" money for govt help or are trying to make it without a hand out.

We would keep items tagged for 1 month for visitors to come back and claim them and then after that the museum would sell any items they could and that money would go back to the museum and everything else was donated or actually used in some of the more creative exhibits. The vast majority of items lost were cameras and phones and glasses. I would say about 40% of people who lost something actually came back for it, but the others either assumed it was stolen or were from out of town and just let it go or filed their insurance claims.

Coming from someone that worked in baggage for many years for a major airline. This particular major airline, has cameras everywhere with crazy zooming capabilities, also they actually pay us pretty well and would be absolutely asinine to take $20 and lose your job. Because that is automatic termination no questions ask, just leave. We would "rifle" through your bag only if you do not have any information printed somewhere on it. Then we have to catalog what is inside and enter it into our system to wait for a claim to come through matching those items. The baggage office will hold on to you bags for 5 days max, except for one major hub I won't mention. They may hold it a little longer. All bags not claimed go to Alabama, where they will hold it for 90 additional days, while we search for the owner or wait for the owner to make a claim that matches our cataloged file. If not wellllll....you all now know what happens next. Most thefts are not from the actual employees of the airlines. It's usually from the employees of the airport itself, subcontractors, TSA 🤷🏾♀️ sorry to say it, or the cleaners. We do allllll we can to reunite you with your baggage, we have an entire office of about 300 people where their only job is to reunite people with their bags.

This is one of the best, most interesting videos ever! I was on the edge of my seat. It was like true crime for clothing addicts🤣 I was so worried you were going to get in trouble, can’t wait for part two!

I went to the Unclaimed Baggage Store and everything was suspiciously new...Like I wouldn't be shocked if it turns out that they flip wholesale liquidation pallets. I find it hard to believe they find SO many brand new duplicate items.....Plus it was very expensive.

My carry-on had to be gate checked due to lack of room. They mistagged it with someone else’s name, so it got lost. I followed it online as it went across the country-twice. It was several days before I got it back, but everything was there. The feeling of your stuff traveling out of your control sucks, even if there just things, they’re yours. This video was JUST what I needed. 😊 Advice, check your baggage claim ticket before boarding, no matter how rushed you feel. Make sure that small print has your name and final dest city. The baggage handlers check the barcode and the final destination city. Your name and description are secondary to them.

30 yrs ago I worked with a guy who was a baggage handler at the old Denver Stapleton Airport. He said Aspen Air was the airline of choice to steal baggage from.. especially during Christmas. He said the other airlines were hit or miss, but always prime loot from Aspen Air.. lol.

I can't believe they only give you 3 days! What if you travel for work and were out of town again? Or just not in a place where you could go pick it up from the baggage office? You'd think they'd ship it to you if they have your info. 🤔

I have a friend in Scotland who helps fund weddings for people who have a terminal illness. He lost his wife to Cancer but not before giving her the wedding of her dreams. Might be nice to find something similar for the wedding dress ?? 😊🙏

I flew to Texas from Oregon, one of my bags was lost. It never showed up at the pick up turnstile, when I went to get it. However, the airline ended up finding it and actually brought it to me 2 hours from the airport. I was impressed!

I worked for cruise line but we were working out of the airport. Delta was “the absolute best” and I’ve always had good things to say about their urgency to get the customers back their luggage. I even had a chance to help a customer get reunited with her wedding gown. 🙂

I live in Ottawa and am considering crossing the river to do this in Gatineau next year. I hadn't realised it was province wide, I'd thought it was just Montreal. I'm from Britain and there is no way you could leave all your stuff like this, the municipalities will not clean it up. And my Canadian husband was quite surprised when we left that there is no tradition of leaving your furniture at the end of your drive for others to pick up

I rode a greyhound bus across country. When I got to the Mesa, AZ terminal my luggage was supposedly lost. It had all my clothes, a bush of my personal things and pictures of my kids. I was so crushed that they didn't have my bag. Never happened before or after. My gut said they lied and stole it. I pray for her big time.

…and in a strange twist of fate, it turned out that Hope purchased a suitcase filled with new with tags clothes from someone who was also performing an experiment to see if her bag would be returned 😂 But seriously, this was really fascinating.
