... u possibly bought mine from somebody back at that time - then again probably not cuz I sold it to a guy back in '80 for 2k. Car was mint - I stripped the paint off the whole car to bare metal - not a spec of rust or bondo cuz i had a minor fender bender n wasnt into tryin a paint match n wanted to see just how clean n solid the body actually was BUT life got in the way of finishing so I sold it prime sealed ready to paint. Was a Texas car i picked up when doin a stint in the svc. - took it back home to PA after the svc. deal n did the work to it. Dammmm I miss that car !

Resto-mod seems like a great way to go! (dark blue with a white stripe as per original spec would be very nice, although I’d say some creature comforts that enhance the car as is would be enough (limited slip rear, updated suspension and steering components, maybe even air con/stereo etc if you want something that is enjoyable for longer trips) But I probably wouldn’t make it too “modern looking’, maybe some elements from the 1970s at its extreme (fat back tyres, chrome mags, polished engine bay, etc..)

Then couple months later my dad came pulled us outta bed cause he won a 65' fastback 289 4speed in a poker game. I was so excited until he told me its for my 13 yr old brother. It was rough been sitting 10yrs but it ran. Then he spent a couple months just going thru fixing easy stuff. He even borrowed my License and took it to speed was and pulled low 14s in a old stock beatdown ford. then he spent the next 3 years working on that car none stop. During that time i found my 69' GTO and that just would motivate him more to keep wrenching along. Till finally that one summer he started bringing it out Looked like Joe Dirt owned but that fuckin thing was light and fast. He put in a big Donkey Dick cam, Duel 500cfm holleys on a high rise tunnel ram with a big bird catcher air cleaner with straight headers.

After looking at that I'm thinking a 1968 Dynacorn shell around 18K would have been a better buy. It has been said that it's better to buy a car with a good body that has a bad engine than to buy a car with a good engine but has a bad body. Body-work is very costly.
@OmarRamirezGalaxie2 жыл бұрын
I see your point. But factoring all the costs in buying a shell, like taxes, shipping, and miscellaneous. I’ll end up at about 22,500 with no VIN. If I were to include the cost of the one I bought and swap the vin, I’ll be at about 35k. At that point I would’ve just bought a nice rust free one for 35k. But I don’t have 35k in cash haha.

Glad to see you get your and on your own dream car, but damn this is a massive restoration project here, how about the structural integrity of the entire car, the frame seems in prety bad shape too ? Beautiful car but never been fond of stangs, here in France common pepole know anything about us cars but mustangs, thats a bit boring :-D, in my opinion your Galaxie is way much cooler ...

Haha yes, I love the galaxie too. I’m still pretty excited for the galaxie. All I’m waiting for are the heads and the progress is going to take off

I heard the other day that the Law Makers in Sacramento are trying to make it illegal for people to work on their car at their home.

I’ve heard that as well. I think that’s more true for the richer neighborhoods lol
