I was thinking about my own classic car journey and one thing I think you need to attend to is the garage. Look into large dehumidifiers - you can do some rudimentary sealing on the garage and then run a large unit, setting the relative humidity to a fixed value (around 45% or so.) This stops time in the garage - nothing goes rusty, nothing seizes, nothing changes. It’s incredible. When you first hook it up it’ll pull out gallons and gallons of water from the structure - and then after about a month or so it slows and you’re left with this amazing place to store things. Mine is a big Dantherm one, mounted to the wall out of the way. Only mentioning this now as these old cars are much more sensitive to this stuff than the new ones, and you could see the chrome etc really take a beating very quickly. Happy Festive Season.

Have also done a LOT of sealing everywhere I could see. Someone coming in next week to dry wall, insulate and damp proof everything including roof, & have ‘proper walls’. Including insulating the back of the garage doors. Can’t wait!!

@ good work. The warmer you make it the less work the dh needs to do to get to the set rh level. However, remember that it costs more to heat than to dehumidify especially if you use a proper unit not a basic consumer one. In your case 15 degrees is very very high for winter and will cost you a fortune. So for example if you set your target temperature to just 5 degrees you’ll use less heat but more dehumidification which will lead to the same result for less money.
