Ive had my 24 AT4X for 2 months and absolutely love it. Thunderstorm grey with the duramax and as part of my deal, the dealer switched all emblems to black which made a huge difference. I was on the fence with the 6.2 but have been thrilled with the duramax so far.

I also got a 2024 AT4X back in March and I am SO GLAD the dealer convinced me to go ahead and take the diesel rather than holding out for the 6.2L I originally thought I wanted…I’ve had the 6.2L in another Sierra Denali and it’s a good engine but for actual every day use, I’m not real concerned with how fast the truck can go from 0-60. I love the torque of the diesel and of course the mileage is no comparison. Absolutely amazing truck all around and I personally have no regrets about the price tag. Cheers! 🍻

Yeah the 6.4 has 410hp 429ftlbs of torque while the AT4X has 420hp 460ftlbs of torque plus the 2500 tad heavier than the 1500. Thanks for feedback, congrats on the truck its beautiful. Volcanic Red is the only one i like too. Looking at two different dealerships and just no incentives or rebates right now so hard to pull the trigger on expensive truck. Prices are insane. Pretty much every vehicle that has wireless CarPlay deals with that delay. I agree it is annoying and I wish they would give you the option to be wired instead. I would rather plug in my phone and have an immediate response than deal with the delay. It feels as though you are using 20 year old touch screen technology.

That delay on the Apple CarPlay is the same thing in my wife’s yukon at4. On my 19’ ram rebel it’s not wireless and I have to plug it into a usb cable. There is no delay so you could be right on the fact the wireless makes using the music delayed.

I hit 20 mpg on the freeway every time I travel that way. Downside for me is 95% of my driving is not freeway and very short trips so my overall average at the moment is like 12. But I don’t think I’m a good baseline to measure on when it comes to fuel economy. My high clearance steps are still on backorder and I am looking forward to them. @OutdoorBeards Жыл бұрын
I am not sure about retractable steps on the AT4 or the AT4X. I wouldn’t think so since it’s an off roaring truck and retractable steps would take away the clearance you get from the 2 inch lift. I have high clearance steps on order for mine. Side note, in your previous comment you talked about gas mileage. I’m on my way back from a trip to Colorado, I’m from Idaho, my best 50 mile stretch was 24.8 mpg. I ran around 20mpg for most of the trip I think. I’ve been tracking my miles and gallons put in the truck for the trip and plan to do all the math when I get home for a full trip average.

Your review has been my favorite thus far! Definitely considering trading my Taco TRD Pro for a bigger truck because of a second kiddo. Would this be closer to the Tundra’s size or is the 2500 the direct competition to the Tundra? Also, what made you choose this over the 2500 ?
@OutdoorBeards Жыл бұрын
This and the tundra are the same size. Both are 1500s. I don’t like the new Tundra design. Specifically how the when the tailgate is lowered there isn’t anywhere to step up into the truck bed. The bumper you would normally step on is body on the tundra. As for why I went 1500 over a 2500 is how often I tow. I have a 7’x14’ cargo trailer I use when it do expos for Outdoor Beards. It weighs 3-4000 lbs and I do around 12 expos a year. Having a smaller truck means better fuel mileage when I’m not towing, which is the bulk of the year. On my trip to Colorado (not towing) I hit 24.8. I don’t think I would have had that with a 2500. Lastly, the 2500 did not have an AT4X model when I bought this. I think they do now. Basically, a 1500 did all the things I needed so I didn’t see the need to go bigger.
@ThePigOBenis Жыл бұрын
@@OutdoorBeards Thank you! Quite have similar thoughts on the Tundra. Also for the money, I feel the 1500 AT4X has more of a premium feel and way more features - that’s coming from a Toyota fanboy. From videos I thought the 2500 AT4X has a few aesthetics I liked more (eg the shifter lever) but you’re right about practicality and use. You’ve given me much to think about!

nice truck and video. pretty close to getting the same truck. i also have a kid about the same age. how does he handle getting in and out of the truck on a daily basis? i ask because i'm considering the aev edition which comes with side protection in lieu of running boards. i'm concerned my kid will be falling out of the truck.
@OutdoorBeards3 ай бұрын
I added the high clearance steps after making this video. Kiddo had a hard time without them. He could clamber up and in but he basically had to jump out of the truck. After getting the steps it solved the problem and everyone had an easier time. I believe with the AEV edition you would have the option swap out for steps. I like the high clearance ones because they don’t negate the 2 inch lift.

Im looking at the same truck. How has your fuel mileage been? And whats it cost you to fill?
@OutdoorBeards9 ай бұрын
Fuel mileage depends on the type of driving so I’ll give you a little break down. I work from home so the bulk of my driving is short trips in town with a lot of stop lights so average speed is like 20mph. In those situations I get around 12-14mpg. I also spend a bit of time with the truck at idle, waiting for the kid after school or warming up in the morning. I have some 20-30 minutes drives, still in town, where I get to go 55 most of the way with few stops. Those situations I get around 16-17mpg. Freeway driving (no trailer) is fantastic around 22mpg. I have a “tall” 7x14 cargo trailer, maybe 3k lbs, hauling that I get 9-10 mpg. Freeway hauling at 70mph 8-9 mpg. Tried going 80 with it and fuel mileage drops to 4-5. As for cost of filling up. The truck is designed for 91 octane so you are paying for premium. Where I live it’s $3.30 a gallon. 25 gallon tank so I’m filling 20 gallons at a time ish. So around $70 a fill. Hope that helps!

You’ve lived with it for a while now. Still liking the X?
@OutdoorBeards Жыл бұрын
Very much! I’m on my way back from a trip to Colorado right now and it’s been so comfortable. Also I hit 24.8 miles per gallon average over a 50 miles stretch during the trip. The daily driver mileage when I’m home is averaging 13 mpg. I’ve used the multiple tailgate in every configuration. That thing is super useful. I don’t think I’ll ever use the locking differentials though, I just don’t do enough serious off-roaring for that. So the At4 would have been plenty for me but I like the interior on the X better and I get massaging seats. Which on this long drive have been awesome.
