Hope , i really was glad to see you made a bunch of gift bags to donate. When it is cold outside, gloves are so greatly appreciated. Shelters, homeless, woman's and children's shelter would love to have the sweaters, pajamas..Any body cleansing, perfumes, haircare etc are loved by someone who doesn't have money for extras. You are such a loving caring person. At the High Schools in our areas, they had everyone who would or was able to donate prom or dressy dresses, so that nobody had to stay home because of not able to pay high dress prices. Some may need professional cleaning but some cleaners may even lover some costs for the cause. What special gifts, something nice to wear or sleep in or coats & gloves to keep from freezing. Thank you for your generosity and kindness. I love following you.

I used to be a teacher. I suggest donating any of the kids’ items to schools! It goes directly into their hands instead of their parents/guardians having to have a way to go to a thrift store AND having to purchase 💗

Yes! I work in an elementary school, and my school has a children's clothing closet, with clothes in a variety of sizes, available for the children in case they will ever need them.

Many African countries have requested that Western countries stop sending them their clothes because a) it depresses local traditional clothing creation and thus the local economy and b) much of it isn't culturally appropriate or needed, thus ends up in landfill. Africa struggles with a lot of pollution and other environmental issues from being treated as the garbage dump of the world and they don't want more of our crap. Africa also has schools and the majority of children do go to school there. Level of suffering also shouldn't be the determinant of charity and care, too, because going hungry and having no properly sized clothes is traumatic for kids anywhere. There are also several million children in the US without families and/or homes. Finally, keeping things local is better for the environment overall.

Charities love donations of new underwear, bras and socks because everyone needs them. Go volunteer sometime and you would know this.

Former Nordstrom manager here…when things get marked as a penny at Nordstrom/Nordstrom Rack it’s so the employees know to pull it because it’s old merchandise. Usually it will all be sent to the Last Chance stores in AZ/IL

I came here to say this box was definitely from Nordstrom Rack which isn’t as good as Nordstrom, maybe you can educate us lol but their inventory includes brands made specifically for their rack store. Their higher price point items don’t always make it to their rack stores. Idk, I was kind of disappointed with this box bc Nordstrom Rack is either a great rare hit or a waste of time miss.

Love that your first thought of the Columbia underwear was to donate them. A social worker for homeless people (a German one but I believe this to be a general problem) said that they are usually very short on underwear because most people don't feel comfortable donating their old underwear!

The socks were a penny because that is what Nordstrom does when they are getting rid of a product that doesn't sell. They pull the item from the store floor and price it down to a penny. Some people have found items at Nordstrom and the Rack that are a penny and they have to sell the item to you for a penny. I found a pair of Hudson Jeans that rang up for a penny and they sold them to me for a penny.

99.9% of this pallet was junk Nordstrom couldn’t sell. Other than the underwear and PJs this lot belongs in a landfill and I guarantee you Hope will end up dumping most of it on Goodwill and they won’t be able to move the merchandise either so it will eventually end up in a landfill. And to think she spent $1700! I can’t wrap my head around Nordstrom’s dishonesty that this was a pallet of “returns”. It’s like taking two $1,000 bills and lighting them on fire. Complete waste of money unless you think those undies are worth $1700.

I can confirm, the egg cups are an European thing! It’s so that when you make boiled eggs you can cut off the top and then eat it with a spoon and keep things from getting messy. My grandma has a whole custom set lol

As someone who used to work at Nordstrom - when things are marked a penny, it means they are meant to be shipped out to the cheaper stores of Nordstrom. First to the rack, and then to last chance. When we do markdowns you’re supposed to immediately pull them off the floor BUT if some are missed and you find one, we HAVE to sell it to you for a penny.

Here in Australia, we have a charity called Thread Together, and it saves these kinds of unworn and brand new clothes from retailers taking them to landfill, and redistributes them to people in need.
