Nail tech here👋 just FYI..any nail 'dip powder' systems are straight up acrylic polymer powder and the base is literally just to react with the acrylic powder to cause it to set like acrylic monomer liquid but in a paint on gel like form. We used to do it in the salon years ago aswell as builder gel and acrylics and it was such a faff then! The brushes clog up, the powder gets all around the cuticles and skin and the removal was always a nightmare because of how many layers you need! Also the colour powders usually take multiple layers to even show up opaque. So basically, in short, you absolutely gave yourself an acrylic dip powder overlay 😂❤

I have the weakest nails ever, they don't break, they rip, like paper. They are so bendy, it's ridiculous. Would something like this help or make the problem worse? If there's anything else I can try, please let me know! I've tried at home gel nails but they don't get hard enough and often just peel off. (sorry for all the questions!)

If they are very weak and flimsy like you say then I personally wouldn't recommend a dip powder system, it will be far too strong and your nails may sepedate from the nail beds and worsen. I'd try using builder gel (a brush on version) as this will be strong but flexible on your nails. I recommend Halo Gel polish clear liquid builder gel xxx apply a gel polish base coat (can also double layer for extra strength) and apply 2 or 3 flat thin coats of builder gel to your nails and once cured either a colour gel polish over the top or just clear gel top coat xxx

I got married in May and my sister is a hair stylist, she told me I had no choice but to get a halo extension if she was doing my hair. Got it, learned how to use it from her, and it’s one of my favorite pieces ever! It’s mostly for thickness rather than length so you can pick your length, density, and color match and the more expensive ones don’t have bands in the back like that so you can split your hair in the back. Stayed put my whole wedding day. Mine is human hair so it can be styled and colored so it’ll basically last me a forever. Absolutely worth it!

When I get my nails done at the salon, I get dip powder on top of my fake nails and the steps you mentioned were pretty similar to the steps the nail techs do! They do use electric files to speed up the process, so I think you’d enjoy using one too. They do last a super long time! and you can get base and top coats that are also UV curable so the nails don’t smudge!

I've converted to dip powders over the last 2 years,and won't go back to bottles. Trust me, you will get quicker. It takes me 35 -45 minutes from start to finish to do all ten nails, (depending if i'm disturbed) and that includes the prep of pushing my cuticles back etc. One piece of advice on the one's I use is to dip your finger into the powder and let it sit for about 10 to 20 seconds, then it will be completely dry to file or re-apply the next coat. My nails have been stronger and healthier since using dip powder, and there is no awful smell like most nail systems. It's my bit of 'me' time and I love it. Taking off is easier if you warm some Acetone in a bowl in the microwave for couple of minutes, remove from microwave and place a folded paper towel in the bottom or bowl, then soak your nails for about 3 - 4 minutes while gliding along the paper towel.All the polish is removed with no damage to nails.

I use Sassy Saints nail dip kit and it’s amazing! My first try took me 3 hours, and now my third try took me an hour and a half for both hands. Super easy, would recommend to anyone! I've been on the fence about trying Loops, but seeing your original review and this follow-up have convinced me to try them out! I love getting dip manicures because it's the only thing that keeps me from picking at my cuticles. Unfortunately I'm not coordinated enough to do them myself, but the cost is worth it to me to keep from picking and they last so much longer than gel for me. Two brands I always see ads for and would love to see a review on are Versed skincare and Subtl makeup :)

I love GLAMRDiP. The first application is always a long one as you learn the product and it's processes. I've been doing my own with it since March. It now takes me about an hour/an hour and a half to do them dependant on what design I'm doing. I am also a perfectionist so I am quite slow and precise with mine ☺️ I do my nails once every 3-4 weeks. Also, they do recommend if your nail looks wet after dipping, dip again. You may have put quite a thick layer of base on.

I just bought my other half loops and his teenage daughter was so intrigued and excited by the idea that she could focus better in school that i gave her some too. I think they're genius. The dip manicure like the nail tech said already is just an acrylic overlay, i do prefer builder gel especially as you can now get HEMA free BIAB that will help a lot of people who get an allergic reaction from the builder gel (not all allergies are caused by hema but a lot). Anyway, another fab video from you, as per usual! There is no way in hell i would have finished the dip manicure, i would have lost my patience 😂

Oh, and I actually bought the electric drill file and while it is quicker, it's not AS quick and easy as it looks and you can cut your skin super easily so be careful. Go slowly first and then turn up the speed little by little.

I developed a gel allergy and so switched to dip powders as an alternative which don’t seem to give me the same problem - I’ve got the Glamrdip kit and really like it. You definitely get faster the more sets you do and I would absolutely say don’t dip, but pour the powder over. You get much more even layers and you need to file less off as well x

I tried glamrdip about 6 months ago and I saw so many people raving about it and so many ads. I’ve always done my nails using a lamp so I thought if it was better why not! Worth a try. I ended up sending the kit back for a refund as despite the brand claiming to be cruelty free etc, the smell and acidity coming from some of their products was worrying - I’m not just referring to the acetone either. I also found that the powder clumped on my nails as I built the layers and the results were not neat (maybe i was doing it wrong but I tried twice and the powder just became lumpy). Definitely think I will stick to the gel polished and lamp. I agree it too ages! X

I do love dip nails, like the end results, but I would use the pour over method instead of dipping your nails into the powder. You need some cupcake liners and after applying the base coat, you put your finger over the cupcake liner and pour the powder on your nail. I feel like this helps make the application less bumpy so you don’t need to file as much. However, just make sure wherever you do your nails is well ventilated! I get dip flu every time I do my nails so I now have to use a respirator/gas mask no matter what or I would be wheezing for hours! Hopefully that doesn’t happen to you!

I use the saviland nail dips. It takes less time the more u do them. U must make sure that each coat is set otherwise they won’t dry and will peel. I only use clear once on top of colour, just to protect the colour. If nails are thick, maybe need to file more. 😊

It's the same method of removal as gel polish. File the top coat, I use warm water in a bowl underneath a bowl of acetone, put my fingers in with a couple of cotton pads, cover with a towel. Comes off in 5 mins or so.

I use the glamrdip stuff and tbh hate the Glow step so always just use the mylee gel top coat instead, when I've finished with the seal bit I put on the mylees base coat then the top coat makes them so much shinier. And it does get quicker the more you do it x

Nail tech here, dip powders ARE acrylic powder. Depending on the brand and the chemicals in them they are not any better than gel. There are so many products out there that contain chemicals such as hema that are known to be aggravating to people and simply going for gel or acrylic is not going to avoid that. You have to check each brand and product for what they contain.

The halo hair band is def a better color hair match but it does look great. The clip hair extension would look better if dyed to match ur hair, does look good. U cannot see the clip but 1 suggestion what if u used a small clear elastic to make ponytail secure and then clip onto ur hair

I think if they make the claw clip any bigger its gonna show, I understand its hard to handle but it disguises really well and it looks pretty cool.

Love the claw clip Soph it looks awesome on you & no you can’t see the clip.. plus for my shorter thinner hair the clips perfect but understand it may be to small a clip for those with thick hair , they should do multiple clip sizes xxx

Hi 👋 I use the clip in ponytail and I tie my hair up first then clip it on top and it doesn’t move I always wear it and I love it , keep trying maybe wear it in the house first till you get use to it :) x x x x x

Btw you don't need the clear layer of powder at the bottom just start with colour might make it less bulky
