There were a lot of issues for the failure of NGage. The first one you also had to change games by taking the back off the device, removing the battery and replacing the game chip. That was far too cumbersome for most casual gamers. The game library was crap and the phone service was super expensive. That along with the side talking, small screen and crap battery life this thing didnt have a chance.

I did have an original Ngage back in the day. I had two in fact at different times, both the original one,and I Loved them although I didn't try many games on them.Only Tomb Raider and the Snow Boarding one that came with it. I thought about getting the QD version one time because it was on sale for only 90 Euros new, but didn't get it in the end for some reason. I wish I had got it ! Oh well...maybe I'll get it in the future....would Love to try the Elder Scrolls: Shadow Key on it.

I had the QD. It was a massive improvement! You could talk into it normally. This form factor is more comfortable for T9 texting, and the cards were hotswapable. Also you could easily install emulators, poco Drive was great for Mega Drive! Vain for SNES and some GBC emulator was awesome on it too. This isn’t counting the great versions of Tomb Raider, Tony Hawk, Colin McCrae and some OG Ngage titles. This was a lot more convenient than carrying a GBA and a phone together.

I can't help but notice the OS of this thing is some kind of old Sony Ericsson OS (don't remember how it was called) with a skin/theme applied to it.Those were really popular back in 2007. I've watched a ton of your videos and I gotta say that this one was the most N Gage-ing one yet. ••• I scanned through the comments; but I didn't read all of them, so if somebody else mentioned this, well, fine. The boot music tune is called "Axel F." It's the theme song from "Beverly Hills Cop"; a great 80s action movie with peak Eddie Murphy, Judge Reinhold (the psychiatrist that stole Tim Allen's wife in "The Santa Clause"), and the guy who I'm pretty sure played that power hungry OCP executive in the first "RoboCop", but here he's a good guy. ••• I love the idea of this phone. I wouldn't buy this one specifically because 2G is dead in America and 3G will be buried at the end of 2022 (it was scheduled to be killed a couple of years ago; but it kept getting stays of execution). What I would love is one of those $80-$100ish Chinese Android handhelds, you know the ones, but in place of the Rockchip CPU it instead has some low end Mediatek or Unisoc CPU, with an actual phone modem to make calls, texts, and use mobile data over the LTE network. We've already got VoLTE compatible prepaid phones from Moto and Samsung for $60. I get that it's subsidized a bit by the carrier; but it couldn't cost that much more for those companies to make one of their handhelds a useful all-in-one device? Spoiler Alert: It probably does cost much more or they would've already done it.

It would had worked if it tried to attend to multiple version S60/J2ME games which had a large library of titles than being another Phone with NES emulator but with Keypad and D-pad. Nes Emulator can easily be downloaded with any smart phone and they could easily attached a dpad controller. So it wouldn't work. Having something that would work and designed specifically with multiple S60/J2mE games that could work because there are no phones that dedicated and design to the J2ME library of games. Another thing that NGAGE missed because most of it's games were from the early days of symbian OS and they tried to make some games exclusive to be Ngage not something that would if there would be other titles in the future. So Ngage was stuck with early symbian OS apps like games and it's exclusive titles.

There might be. If not I am fairly sure you can run some of the Ngage games on older Nokia hardware. But man some of the games on the actual Ngage were quite good. While Tony Hawks Pro Skater was strange in Portrait mode - it was still sick to play that on the bus to school!
