its both if we are being real, I am tired of both beginners who think a 1000$ guitar will make them play better and people who think expensive guitars aren't better. Cheap guitars can easily deter beginners from playing if it is improperly setup/has sharp frets/neck angle is wrong etc etc. The fact of the matter is a 50usd guitar isn't ideal. Beginners should try to get a guitar in the 150usd range if possible and at least get their guitar setup even if they do go cheaper.

Very true. It's not the guitar that's the problem. It's the player. Like I could get a 1,000$ guitar and not sound too good but you could get a professional guitarist a cheap guitar and it would sound amazing. I have a cheaper Amazon electric strat and I realized all I needed to do to get better was actually try harder. Now I can do some cool things and I recently learned bending!

It’s also possible to improve the playability of a cheap guitar with common tools. The videos are all here on KZbin. Don’t be afraid to learn about guitars and how to set them up at the same time you’re learning to play. It’s not terribly hard if you are even a little bit handy, learning how to figure out what need “fixing” is harder than actually doing it most of the time.

I remember buying a guitar off wish. It actually turned out ok for a noodling guitar. It had some crappy wire to mimic guitar strings, but I just replaced those with nylon strings and shaved down the nut and bridge a bit. It has issues with the bad upper frets, but I'm still very much a learner, and it's more of a beater guitar anyways, if that makes sense.

My tip for beginners: Buy a crap guitar at first. I went out and bought a $1,000 Gibson guitar as a beginner because it looked cool. About 1 year later, I found an Epiphone Les Paul for $500 that I absolutely fell in love with. Loved the sound and loved the look. The $1k Gibson sat in my practice space full time after I bought the Epiphone. And when I sold the Gibson, I took a loss as no one pays full price for a used guitar. So learn how to play a guitar, learn your style and sound, THEN spend big bucks on one you like. Especially if you barely had money to buy a guitar in the first place like I did. I saved for a year to buy the Gibson.

And I found out that actually I quite like playing guitar, so I'll buy a better one for around 200 (this time steel string acoustic). For my cheap guitar, I somehow managed to decrease the action etc and now it is pretty usable, just sounds not good haha. All in all was a great way to start a new hobby.

I bought an acoustic exactly like this (funnily enough the one you purchased from wish) last year off Amazon. It plays okay-ish, I guess, but the first and second frets on the high E string are absolutely dead. It rarely stays in tune, but as of last month I finally broke a string... I'd rate mine a 6/10, just because it actually has a somewhat decent tone

Its always good to go to a guitar center or somewhere like that so you can test it out, and actually see if it is actually worth buying. The sound in my opinion doesnt bother me to much. The feel is the most important. If it doesnt feel good your never gonna play it. The feel is the most important. Not the looks, not the sound the feel. Like he said you can get some new strings and pop em on and it will sound like a really expensive guitar. Its just good to test it before you buy it.

The first guitar I bought was a Donner acoustic dreadnought. Its neck eventually got really bad to the point where beyond the fifth fret it's basically unplayable - some players like a high action but obviously it's awful for most. Every time I go to a guitar store I get mad because they're all setup properly. A guitar store employee who inspected mine told me to "just buy a new one." I went to a pawn shop the other day and played a cheapie weepie acoustic with _no brand_ on the headstock, you could tell the wood was thin, but the neck played just right, the action was perfect, the strings were really light and it was _almost_ as easy as my electrics. I almost would've walked out with it. I picked up a Fender acoustic next to it, noticed the low action, but when I played it I realized the action was too low and buzzing.

The first guitar that is shown from Wish, that one is made in the same Chinese factory that makes Glarry guitars and also for some other retail companies as well. They just slap on the Glarry name or other company name on the head stock. Not sure about the other guitar. One thing to know as long as there is a truss rod in the neck of the guitar, to make neck adjustments and also the string saddle in the bridge is not "glued in" you can set the string height and get and playability a bit better on both of those.

It's just a deep woody tone I can't find in any laminate guitar. I'm not shaming anyone for playing what they have and can afford. But if you have the means to get a guitar with solid woods then do yourself a favor and get one. Don't go into debt but don't settle either. That last guitar you played sounded really nice though.

When my dad was 17 years old, he saw his senior playing the guitar and sonce that day, he want one. He work hard and got a really low quality guitar. He start playing and 2 months later the strings sounds horrible because of the fingerboard getting twisted but he get use to it and play it with his seniors. When his senior played the guitar he cannot make it good but when he passed to my dad, it was like the senior is the noob and my father is the boss
