brandon is such a passionate individual. It actually seems so bizarre to me that someone could spend so much time learning about history, and still sound like he plays 10 hours a day. it's incredible that someone could be a historian and technical virtuoso. he's a god among men, and he carries himself with the casual humility of someone who is absolute sure of himself.

Businessmen and brands (the worst one Martin) try to make a vintage and historic market for guitar but these guitars are so overpriced! When this guitar is 270000 a real old guitar ( befor 19s ) must be 10 millions!!! My father's violin is older than this guitar (at least 50 years) it is not a famous brand but he believes it was made by a master luthier in Bavaria for a professional player. This really brought home to me how I felt after playing flat top and electric for 42 years at an advanced level, I took up classical. It was like the guitar deeply resented by lack of touch and expression. Still trying to catch up ten years later. It was good to see how Rob so quickly go from awkwardness to being musical here, and yet, and yet. Indeed, great classical guitar is soul and love.

I kinda regret not taking my classical guitar lessons seriously enough and then quiting because now I'm dating a girl who's totally into classical guitar music. But all I can do is play the ukulele very badly and electric guitar even worse 😋 She did get me to listen to a lot of John Williams again though. So lately I've found a new appreciation again. Guess it's time to restring mine. Handmade by a German luthier and fortunately I still have it. Still smells like new when I open the case.

I was the UPS driver in 1979 for Sherry-Brenner In Chicago.. They were the supplier for the Guitars of Andres Segovia. I actually got to touch a guitar that he tested to buy. They were kept in a bank vault. I played $10,000 dollar guitars. I dreamed of someday owning one. I never did, but I learned to respect cheaper guitars that sounded great. Hey Rob - this is no doubt going to get buried in the comments but I thought I'd put it out there anyway: Since you've been doing this series of videos about different and interesting players and instruments, I couldn't help but think of my bass idol - Michael Manring. That dude is seriously an amazing player with a crazy unique instrument - the Hyperbass. It's a 4 string fretless, 3 octave bass with really light strings, outfitted with extender levers on EVERY string, a bridge that can shift tunings with a lever, AND a pickup for every string in addition to 4 body pickups. The way he approaches and plays the instrument and just approaches music making is astounding, and to top it all off he's a super down to earth guy! I think that if you could get in touch with him and sit down to chat about the instrument and his style, it'd be a really interesting conversation for people to see. He really pushes the boundaries of how I've thought about my playing and how i listen to music, and I think it'd be really amazing to see him on and spread his work around to others. Love your work Rob, keep the amazing content coming! Edit: thanks for the likes guys! I appreciate it and hope you enjoyed the new music - here’s hoping rob sees!

I'm in the middle of researching for an assignment into innovations into classical guitar making, and the differences compared to steel string acoustic guitars. Right before I rewatched this, I was reading about all the great luthiers featured here in Making Master Guitars. Ramirez, Hernández, Hauser, Friederich and Torres. This video made me gain a new found appreciation for why these instruments are as special as they are. Putting them into context, they come from a very different time, where you couldn't just make 2 guitars sound similar with post-production tweaks, so players would shop with their ears, picking guitars that suited the way they played and that's definitely something that I need to remember going forward, designing the next 2 instruments that will take me to graduation.

Hahaha... silliness I get why someone would pay 150k for it (not 280) but selling it as if it has the spirit of dead masters in it is just gross. It's collectable. The history is awesome. Words like you can never have too many guitars have been heard uttered next to those gorgeous instruments! Such warm and plucky tones, mellifluous even... What a beautiful session... I'll get back to you when my numbers drop on the lottery!

For me as an Bavarian I hear that the Hauser is made for „Folklore-ish“ kind of Bavarian music called „Stubnmusi“. Where as with the Torres, the flamenco type sound goes so beautiful… Great Video!

These sort of videos are precious in a way, leaving a record for history. Platforms like KZbin are so new to us that I don't think we realize what we're doing for future generations. This is a document that's more valuable than any Wikipedia entry describing these guitars. We get to hear them and have contemporary experts candidly commenting on their feelings regarding the instruments. Can you imagine having such a record from 2000 years ago?

I’m honestly surprised rob hasnt dabbled in flamenco or classical guitar. He’d probably love flamenco with how many techniques require you to hit the front of the guitar lmao practiced flamenco since middle school up until my senior year of highschool in California. Twas an unforgettable experience getting the chance to play to the best of my ability

I'd love to see Rob come back and do a more in-depth look into their collection and more of the history. The "wow' factor of the one guitar being $275,000 made me click, but the history made me stay. Great video.

You can see the sound hole in the internal back so the sound through a tiny channel and up the sides. I would assume that there is bracing that fans out from the rear sound hole so that the path of the sound is not obstructed.
