I bought mine for £85.00 three years ago with 185 hours on clock but never used it. Now I got the new battery charger and waiting for the P2 card to start shooting HD footage. These ccd sensor cameras are very strong and long lasting.

Even in July of 2022, the Panasonic HPX-200 as well as the HPX-170, are both two excellent P2 cameras for video productions. Some people think that newest is always better, they are wrong! I own both of them, and I am still using them at large!

I got a cheap HMC150 the other day with 56 hours on it. My question is which model is better? HVX or HMC?
@MickModАй бұрын
From what I've been able to find online, the HMC150 (and HMC151 and so on) have the same sensor block as the HPX170. The big difference is what codec it uses and the storage format. The HMC cameras are great when it comes to convenience because they just use normal SD cards instead of expensive P2 cards. The downside of that is that the HMC cameras tend to record around 20-21mbps video bitrate, while the HPX170 records between 40 and 100mbps to the (at the time much faster) P2 cards. I haven't really been able to tell any big visual difference when comparing my HMC to my HPX, but it's worth noting. Otherwise they should be pretty dead-on similar. I don't own an HVX200 though so I can't speak for that cam specifically, but I assume there are people out there who could do a better job than me directly comparing the HPX170 and HVX200. -Mick :)

@@MickMod Thanks Man!! I'm still learning about formats and realized right away that OBS can't edit AVCHD (MTS) files. After trying a couple of different ways to convert them to mp4 I found the PC's Microsoft Photo has a built in converter and it doesn't take alot of time. It's an extra step but worth it to learn these cool cameras. I thought I would have to buy a converter...

CONTEXT ON THE EMPTY BOX: The seller was also planning on listing some professional Mini DV tapes he had (probably used in the 201AE) and had accidentally sent me the box of tapes. I'd had a long day at work so I was very much looking forward to checking out the camera. When I saw it was just a box of tapes I as you could imagine, was unimpressed lol Thankfully the seller was a top bloke and within 24 hours had sent out the camera. He arranged for the tapes to be sent back and all was well. Simple mistake!
