I just got an 05 lgt for $2000 that had dry rotted tires. I got it running already and no smoke or weird stuff. Got some new gas and I think it wasn’t starting from a loose intake clamp. I put my 14 wrx wheels on w good tires and I think it’s ready for me to put on the wishimoto radiator and change the oil

Wow...looks like a fun project. Man, that funky turbo is REALLY loud! Sounds like it's only a few revs from sending shrapnel in to the motor or exhaust system. That would also account for all of the exhaust smoke; because the turbo seals are blown. Should be a fun car when it's fixed.

We took the turbo off and were blown away at how badly it was damaged! Hoping that the turbo is the only issue!

Yeah...I've seen some real messy turbo failures. Make sure you film all of the carnage and replacement and get it on your channel. Keep up the good work.

Got my 2005 LGT with an ej20x swap. Cobb short throw shifter, Nvidia down pipe, full OBX exhaust and DC sports headers, Turbosmart bypass valve, SPT Intake with Perrin silicon intake tube. 145,000 miles for 4K just needs some exterior work and a tune 👌🏾

I picked up a pearl white 2005 lgt wagon for 1500 and an ej20x swap. Only took me about $600 extra to get it running well like you expected on yours. Welcome back to the subaru family though!

Pretty good find man! I have an 06 that had the exact same sound + smoke when I bought it. I tore into it and it turns out that the shaft that connects the compressor to the turbine had cracked in half and the compressor had become completely loose in the housing. I'm going to go with a refurbished VF52 and hopefully it won't blow up like that. Make sure to check your banjo bolts, assuming you have them. I can't remember if the 07+ ones had them or not. They can get clogged and it starves the turbo of oil.

Another User I almost purchased the vf52 on accident and then read that you need some supporting mods for it! So I obviously went with the stock vf48 and haven’t had any issues so far!

$3400 for my 05 with body damage and some hideous gold spray painted rims. but the car is in that garnet red color and a manual so i cant complain. anyone have any suggestion for rims since these gold sprayed ones are coming off immediately

Lol I got mine for 1,500. Yea dude, your turbo AND your short block, if not whole long block is toast. I bought mine w/ a blown turbo, thinking the same thing as you did; That I could just put a new/rebuilt oem turbo in & the thing will run again. Right? Wrong. I've spent about 10 grand on the entire engine re-build to this day. No exaggeration. I actually just went and picked it up a few weeks ago. Took me a little while to save up for it too. I didn't want to believe the mechanic because I wanted the car so badly. He told me he wouldn't do it if he was I & that basically, I'm stupid. Which I accept, partly, because i thought only 2500 was all it was gonna take to get my car running initially. But the truth is about turbos is that when the turbo goes, so does the engine. The turbo has to be maintained / replaced before catastrophic engine failure. ANY failure, engine failure ect, will cause the entire thing to fail over & over again. It has to be rebuilt from the ground up. But if your reading this message, you probably already know this by now lol. My engine blew 700 miles after my turbo cartridge replacement. I gave it the smoothest break in possible. Nothing. Not even hoping & wishing will bring it back after catastrophic failure. Seized turbo or thrown rod ect. will blow all the expensive stuff. Its a race car. Race cars get rebuilt after every race. In fact, pro Subaru Rally Team drivers have their turbos replaced after every single race. It's just something you're gonna have to really take care of more than you expected. Here's hoping you're good for the money! Keep on posting. Hilarious btw your friend mentioning the exhaust pipe smoke could be from lack of tranny "oil" i think he said X_D hahahaha. Fuckin honda owners lmao. However, although your exhaust pipe will never smoke @ idle because of your transmission lacking "oil" lollllll; those automatic transmissions aren't really bulletproof either. The whole tiptronic & all. They can get pretty thrashed around. Mine isn't exactly toast YET. But it will be the next to go. Probably for you too. Let's face it. People don't exactly drive these things slow. Big mechanic/racing term is literally flat out "slamming gears". Because that's exactly what you're doing when you race. The gears are just grinding up little by little each time you launch or do fat pulls w/ hard shifts. Your super expensive specialized racing clutch too! Aweyeabuddy. Look into manual swap or dogboxing & cut gears. Automatic rebuilds can be pretty expensive but so can swaps! Have fun! :-) And remember, I'm an equally invested and as stupid of an idiot for taking on such a project. So don't be too sad/mad. Just better hope your fiance loves GT's as much as you say lmao. And remember dude... that car is a relic. As nice of condition the body may be in, it is most likely close to being on its last legs. I hope that you will give it the true respect it deserves and find a good home for it if you aren't interested in investing any further into it. Don't just abandon it or junk it @ a wrecking yard if you cant get it going. Keep it alive brotha. I dig the passion. You look as excited in this vid as I was when I bought mine. In fact, I was so excited I couldn't even contain myself. So I really hope the best for you man. I guess for both of us, rather lol. Keep me posted.

From the price on the market place the one i bought was the cheapest i guess most of it range about 2k and up. But earlier later on i have checked online and from the cheapest market sales, like facebook and some google selling apps like offer up, they selling a running car worth 3k and up with a high mileage...
