Also, the ball mouse has been around for a very, very long time. I had an old logitech one from the early 90's with the red ball. It's literally the same mechanism from the old-school trackball mice, just inverted, enlarged, and made with rubberized rollers instead of using a rubberized ball. They're still plenty neat, though, and there's a small but vocal group of people who swear by them as the utmost in ergonomics. I'm not sure I agree with them, but it's always fun to see that this product has persisted.

There was one that was a puck that had a bunch of buttons on it and the puck had multi-directional tilt as well as both push and pull actuation to allow you to move laterally and vertically within the 3D space. It could also be rotated to allow the space to be rotated. It was very cool, but also very niche. Check them out sometime, the brand is 3DConnexion and the product line is the Space Mouse.

Literally sitting here browsing KZbin with that exact Kensington track ball..... I find them really good. They are much better than a mouse for your wrist, I love the scroll wheel on that one, and you never run out of 'mouse pad' space with a track ball. It also has the added advantage that nobody messes with my PC at work because they cant get past using the track ball. I find it faster than a mouse, but it takes a bit of learning, because your arm doesn't move.
