This past July (2023), I bought a 2013 Model S 60 with 125k mile for $15k from a private sale. Original HV batt. & 2nd drive unit (according to selller).This is my first EV and loving it so far. I think at the time, this vehicle was the cheapest "running" Tesla in the US...😀 So, needless to say, I'm anxious to see upcoming videos and progress you make with this vehicles. There are alot of us out here that are just getting our "EV feet" wet with older vehicle like this and videos like these are invaluable to us.

Dang 125k miles. That would scare me away. No warranty and other issue will come up. I heard the door handles breaks pretty easy. Also mcu screen leaks and gets slow.

Sounds like the rear drive motor bearings are bad, if so this is due to coolant leaking into the motor. If this is the case, the motor needs to be removed and bearings replaced, I suggest installing a coolant delete too.

If this vehicle hasn't had the flash memory recall done you, you can still choose the MCU2 upgrade for $1500. If the memory recall has already been done, then the cost is $2250 for MCU2. If the screen in front of the steering wheel hasn't started to leak, it includes that too. If you don't do the MCU to upgrade and the instrument screen leaks, it's like a $1000 replacement, so do MCU2 is a no brainer. Should also get the battery coolant, rear DU diff fluid, and brake fluid flushed/replaced.

I am from China, i bought a MODEL S85 with free supercharging, but i did not transfer the ownership from the previous owner account, cause i was told by someone that if i did this, the free supercharging would be canceled, is that true in US?
@Myksgarage8 ай бұрын
Im the second owner on both of my Model S cars, and the supercharging transfered just fine each time
@AllDefiAreRugs5 ай бұрын
Go to your Tesla account vehicle page. Then click on details (below the VIN number), which will give you a pop-up screen with your car details. To find out if you have code SC01 (the only SC code with free *transferable* lifetime supercharging), you need to view the HTML source code of the page with the pop-up within your browser, etc. Do a search in the source code for the text SC0 and you will see which SC code you have, hidden between all the other options for your car. SC05 is non-transferrable lifetime supercharging, so if you see that, then you cannot transfer it, you would have to keep it the way you have it now.

Do you live in Utah? Ever worked in aviation? I feel like I know you? Or maybe I've just seen your videos before. 10k seems like a good deal as long as the batt and DU last. From my research the battery issues mostly stopped after Q2 2015. Tesla Motors Club website has a load of info.
