Great project, just to note the EA888’s use oil anyway so not to worry about. Biggest bug for me is whoever bought this car originally decided to put budget tyres on it. Probably why they smashed into the back of something.

@@garymowbray6442 how’s the logic on buying a 45k sports hatchback, burning through those continentals it came with and thinking “I’ll just spend £60 a tyre on these budget Sunnys” 😭 I have a 9 year old Cupra and always ran PS4s, I’ll never understand those who buy cars like this (and at this price) and want to save £200 when it comes time to replace the ONLY part in contact with the ground. 😂 rant over.

I couldn’t read the ‘sh1tty’ tyre brand, I have a set of 18” with Bridgestone Potenza Sport and a 19” set with Pirelli’s. I’ve never understood the cheap tyre option that people make, but suspect they’re maxed out on a lease deal for these performance cars and can’t afford to maintain or run them properly. I’m sure I’ve read that’s why so many performance Golf’s all have the most basic of specifications and it’s rare to find them with sunroof/19” alloys/leather etc…

Don't just replace the headlight if it's just a lug that's broken. You can buy lug replacement kits from the main stealer for £20 which are designed to fit straight on.

Yes, you could spec 19” Y Spoke wheels on the Golf R. As of 2021-2022, the Golf R could be specked with a Performance pack that brought the big wheel, rear spoiler and a Drift mode. You car does not have the Perf Pack. The golf r can also be specked with the Akrapovic exhaust from factory that your car does not have. Adaptive dampers might be on your car but IDK. If you want to unlock drift mode, you can just fiddle with the ECU but VW charged you over 2 grand for Drift Mode😂

Chris you can buy headlight repairs mounting brackets mate if the headlight is all okay and its just the mounting bracket broken, you’ll save yourself a few quid

Hi Chris I’m a panel beater and have just worked on one of them have a few parts there if your interested main grill with badge Washer bottle new Right top headlamp black panel new Intercooler charge pipe new Right wing bracket now Right headlamp module new Left wing badge R new Two bonnet hinges new Front Parking sensor new Right side horn new All new parts still in original tps wrapping 👍

I don’t think you can visually compare the Golf R (production car) vs. the Golf GTI Clubsport 45 (limited edition/run car) as per your picture. However, it would be fair to say the Golf R is more aggressive in look especially the front & rear bumpers/diffuser respectively, than a GTI (Base), given the R hits a higher price point. Great thing about the MQB Evo platform is the number of aftermarket parts so you’ll find plenty if you fancy making a GTI/R Frankenstein. 😉

The reason why the wheels look small is because the rim is big, and why the gti cs looks more aggressive is because your car dont have the performance packet

Having owned a pretty much completely stock R for two weeks. I have added a front splitter, rear and side skirts. Making it look much more aggressive. I wish i paid the extra for the performance pack to get the rear spoiler. Its around £1,000 for the performance spoiler. Looking forward to how you spec this one out 💪

The Mk8 Golf Rs don't come with engine covers anymore as they melt the engine covers. But you can still buy aftermarket covers like from Apr

As someone who's taken on a modern VW Cat-S, I'm scared what's hiding in there 😄 - ours had a mid front end smash where yours has and it caused about £1300 of damage to the rad pack, AC compressor, AC lines, coolant pipes, electrical connectors, sensors, coolant pumps, vacuum pumps, etc. Just to add to the already visible chassis member damage, front end bodywork and the parts taken off it stood at the salvage yard.

Good video, but if I can give a tip, try making the videos more like Mat Armstrong. It’s a bit faster paste which makes it more enjoyable to watch for people with a little less knowledge about cars (like me). I really enjoy these videos, but if they’re slow paste I tempt to skip through them, which damages monetary gains and potential for it being recommended for others. the normal GTI doesn't have the spoiler on the back. your need to have the GTI clubsport to get the spoiler. for the R you need the performance package to get the spoiler

10 years ago? The R32 came out in 2003. They had to do away with the 32 as they had to move away from the 3.2L engine. But that’s the start of the R golf line.

10 years ago 😂 more like 20 years the MK 4 R32 launched on a 53 plate following the end of the VR6. Became the Mk6 R in 2009. Crazy to think the original R32 was only 240bhp and now the R pushing 330bhp standard!
